Fountain Hills Theater announces opening of the hilarious comedy Footlight Frenzy.

This past Sunday, newly awarded Kennedy Center Honoree Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT) was celebrated in a special tribute presentation at the 42nd annual Kennedy Center Honors Gala. The tribute included a performance by more than 40 alumni of the New World Symphony, America's Orchestral Academy (NWS), which MTT co-founded 32 years ago as a training ground for the next generation of classical musicians. Conducted by NWS alumnus and Louisville Orchestra Music Director Teddy Abrams, the alumni musicians paid tribute to MTT's wide-ranging artistry, performing a program that celebrated his acclaimed interpretations of modern masters, his advocacy for American music, and his own work as a composer. Joining the orchestra in performance were MTT's longtime friends and collaborators Audra McDonald and Yuja Wang, as well as Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, who recently collaborated with MTT as part of Metallica and San Francisco Symphony's S&M2 concert. Spoken tributes were also given by Mr. Ulrich and actress Debra Winger.

In honor of Disney and Pixar's Coco and Día De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a number of experiential activations have been announced for the upcoming live-to-film concert experience taking place at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday, November 8 & Saturday, November 9. The previously announced all-star lineup of specials guests is an international ensemble of Mexican, Latino and Hispanic artists coming together to celebrate Coco and Mexican culture, and includes Benjamin Bratt, Eva Longoria, Carlos Rivera, Miguel, Alanna Ubach, Alex Gonzalez, Jaime Camil, Lele Pons, Rudy Mancuso and Natalia Jímenez who will appear throughout the evening as the beloved film plays on the Bowl's movie screen accompanied by a full, live orchestra. The New World Symphony presents the world premiere of The Abandoned Castle, a work for string quartet composed by 12-year-old Jordan Millar, a member of the New York Philharmonic's Very Young Composer (VYC) program. Fountain Hills Theater has wrapped up its 29th Season with a summertime delight ~ LEND ME A TENOR, THE MUSICAL ~ proving definitively that cool community theater is the best antidote for Arizona's triple digit heat. The musical adaptation by Peter Sham (book and lyrics) and Brad Carroll (music) of Ken Ludwig's 1989 Tony-nominated comedy is a madcap affair of love and empowerment that, under the clever and crafty direction of Peter J. In celebration of its thirtieth anniversary, Fountain Hills Theater is opening its 2016-17 season with 30 Years - The Show!  a high-energy musical retrospective of  Fountain Hills Theater's extraordinary 30 year history. Begun as the brainchild of Sandi McGee in 1986, FHT has since grown into one of the most respected and highest award-winning non-professional theaters in the Valley under the leadership of Val Stasik and the dedicated staff. Author and director Peter J. Hill, promises that this exciting, multi-media musical production will showcase - however briefly - at least one song from each of the over 100 musicals presented by FHT since they began.   Huge shows like Cats, Miss Saigon and The Producers, as well as smaller productions like Fantasticks, I Do, I Do and even the half-dozen world premier musicals will be represented.  Thirty of FHT audiences' favorite performers are returning to recreatesome of their finest roles, including Alex Gonzalez, Patrick Russo and Noel Irick.

The winner of 10 Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, South Pacific tells the sweeping romantic story of two couples on a remote island in the Pacific - a U.S. Navy nurse and an expatriate French plantation owner, and a Marine Corps lieutenant and a young local girl - and how their happiness is threatened by the realities of war and their own prejudices. Helmed by FHT's Artistic Director Peter J. Hill, and incorporating newsreel footage from WWII, South Pacific balances intimate, personal stories with the sweeping grandeur of wartime drama.
