Flexx, The Upstart POC Satire Website, Brings Their Off-Color Comedy To The Stage

Experience comedy in full color with Flexx: A Whole-Ass Live Show at Caveat. Helmed by a vibrant cast of Brooklyn's most diverse comedians, the Most Urban Website in the World is bringing its sharp satire to the stage.

Since its launch, Flexx has become a popular source of of-the-moment satire - for people of color, by people of color. Their hour-long show is packed with energetic bits, recipe videos, paparazzi shots, and more, all through the keen lens of POCs who have simply had enough.

Given that so much of mainstream comedy pulls from the experiences of straight white men, it feels more essential now than ever to create satire for POCs. "We wanted to add a tinge of absurdity to the 'urban' internet space," said founder Milly Tamarez. "Many people floated the idea of a satire publication for people of color but there was nothing out there yet. The Onion satirizes The New York Times, Clickhole satirizes Buzzfeed, and Reductress does Cosmo. But who is satirizing Complex? Worldstar? Mediatakeout? Bossip?"

The Flexx editors and contributors reflect the diversity they pump into their satire - with an incredibly rich array of races, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, and home cities onboard. Using this diversity as their strength, Flexx is excited to funnel their unique points of view into some of the weirdest, most out-there comedy in the city.
