Directed by ASF Artistic Director Rick Dildine, this production brings home a play that was inspired by true events from 1959 Montgomery and was created on this very soil. Rich with all the complexities of human nature, this tale from Alabama history remains stunningly relevant to today's world.

Flanagan has passed. It was terrible how he went. It was terrible that he went. But here you are in the pub with the others to hear the reading of the will and to mourn his passing at a traditional Irish Catholic wake. Not Irish? Or Catholic? Not a problem. Grab a name tag in the lobby before you enter (you'll get a fittingly new name) and a stiff drink or two (now you're set!) and hurry on inside, because you won't want to miss a thing. Flanagan's Wake: The Hilarious Interactive Irish Wake kicks off with a pre-show show that sets the tone where, among other happenings...

BWW Review: Upstream Hosts A Merry Debate in WITTENBERG

The Upstream Theater has opened a lovely production of Wittenberg, by David Davalos. It is a 'tragical-comical-historical play', a genre first mentioned by Polonius and rarely seen thereafter. (I guess Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead would fill the bill.) Here in Wittenberg we meet two great figures, Martin Luther and Dr. John Faustus, both professors at the University. Attending their lectures is an ardent young Danish student, Hamlet.

BWW Review: God Takes Center Stage at the New Jewish Theatre

Four years ago the New Jewish Theatre offered a side-splitting evening of 'Four Old Jews Telling Jokes'; now they offer 'An Act of God'. Once again it's an evening of stand-up comedy. So, who do you think could tell a joke better than an old Borscht-Belt Jewish comic? Do I hear you cry, 'Nobody!'? Well, how about God himself? God's famous for his sense of humor; just look at the book of Job.
