BWW Review: WAITRESS, Adelphi Theatre

Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson's 2015 musical adaptation of Adrienne Shelly's film, about a small-town waitress who processes her feelings via her skilful baking, brings its sugar and spice mixture to the West End. The result is a tasty treat - albeit with the odd ill-mixed ingredient. Hollywood Handshakes all round.

As previously announced, Shoshana Bean will return to Broadway in the role of Jenna in Waitress! Bean begins performances on March 18 and will be in the show through May 12, 2019. Waitress just announced its next Cast Album Karaoke night will be held on March 7, and hosted by Bean. Bean made the announcement on Instagram, which gave us a first look at her in the iconic blue Waitress uniform!

The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is seeking sweet submissions for its Baked from the Heart: WAITRESS Pie Contest. Celebrating the touring production of WAITRESS, coming to the Kravis Center March 5 - 10, the contest will be judged by T.A. Walker of WPTV'S Taste and See South Florida, with the winner announced Friday, March 1.

The hosts of the first ever Waitress London Cast Album Karaoke Night have been announced today. Smash star Katharine McPhee, who plays Jenna in the West End production, will host the post-show event alongside Denise Van Outen on Tuesday 19 February. Audience members can sign up before the show for the chance to sing one minute of any song from Waitress - live on stage at the Adelphi and accompanied by the show's musical director Katharine Woolley.

Broadway in Indianapolis, Sun King Brewery, and WFYI announce partnership to bring a WAITRESS-inspired pie contest to the home bakers of Indianapolis. Contestants can begin submitting their pie recipes now. Participants are asked to dream up a pie name and recipe, and submit a video telling judges the story behind their pie and the significance of its ingredients.
WAITRESS Extends Booking Period Ahead Of Its First West End Preview Tonight

Ahead of the first preview performance of Waitress in the West End tonight, it is announced that more tickets have been released and the show has extended its booking period to 19 October at the Adelphi Theatre. The Tony-nominated musical by Sara Bareilles will have its official opening night on 7 March. The production has also just announced that a limited number of day seats will be available to purchase in person from the theatre box office for £25 (from 10am, Mon-Weds performances only, subject to availability and at the box office's discretion).

At just four and six years old, Fifi Christophers and Arabella Duffy will make their West End debuts sharing the role of Lulu.
