The Public Theater announced complete casting today for the 2016 Free Shakespeare in the Park production of THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, beginning performances on Tuesday, May 24 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Commissioned byPlaywrights Horizons and directed by Obie Award winner Anne Kauffman (Detroit, Maple and Vine, Your Mother's Copy of the Kama Sutra at PH; Belleville; This Wide Night; The Thugs), the play is the third production of the theater company's 2015/2016 Season. The production opened last night, December 14, at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street), and will play a limited engagement through Sunday, January 3. The Public Theater officially opened the Mobile Shakespeare Unit's THE COMEDY OF ERRORS on Thursday, November 5. Directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah, the sit-down run of THE COMEDY OF ERRORS follows a three-week tour to the five boroughs, bringing free Shakespeare to audiences who have limited or no access to the arts. The Shakespeare comedy began previews at The Public Theater November 1 and will run through Sunday, November 22.

Irina Shayk and Sutton Foster teamed up with a few adoptable furry friends to host the ASPCA's annual Young Friends Benefit last night at the IAC building in New York City.  The Young Friends Benefit is a cornerstone of the ASPCA's fundraising efforts to directly impact the lives of homeless, abused and neglected animals across the country.

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK's return has been set!

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today it will air the star-studded primetime television event the “Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards,” featuring exclusive backstage interviews, red-carpet highlights and intimate reflections from some of the most extraordinary African-American women in film and television.

Nominations have been revealed for the 46th annual NAACP Image Awards. The event will take place on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, and be broadcast live on TV One.

Undercover Productions LLC will present the Off-Broadway Premiere of Ethel Sings, by Joan Beber at Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre (410 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues), with Opening Night set for tomorrow, Friday, June 6th.
