American Renaissance Theater Company presents WinterWorks 2018: Look Me In The Eyes, an engaging observation of couples and coupling taking place at the intimate Directors Studio of the Directors Company (311 West 43rd Street) starting January 24th and running through February 4th. The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announces nine awards granted from their National Fund for New Musicals, a major funding program to support NAMT member not-for-profit theatres in their collaborations with writers to create, develop and produce new musicals. Now in its sixth year, the Fund will provide grants totaling $35,500 to nine organizations across the country.
The CAP21 Writers Residency January 2013, concluded this past Friday in New York City. The residency provides 80 hours of free space, a stipend, and guidance from the Artistic Director, Eliza Ventura. Selected writers are chosen and given the opportunity to begin or further develop new musicals in a supportive and focused environment.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced the full slate of 27 musical productions, a developmental reading series and special events for their seventh annual festival. This year's Festival will begin September 27th and continue through October 17th. A full breakdown of this year's performances follows.

Mary Birdsong will appear in a stage reading of NYMF's Live! Nude! Girl! on Oct. 15. The show, about a 1950s housewife who undergoes a dramatic make-over, is written by composer Wayne Barker and lyricist-librettist Donna Kaz. Live! Nude! Girl had a Manhattan reading in January 2008 and will premiere a revised script and score in two NYMF presentations.

Live! Nude! Girl! is an official selection of the New York Musical Theatre Festival's developmental reading series and will receive two AEA readings on October 15th at the festival's 45th Street Theatre venue.

In 2004 my piano tuner suggested that I meet composer Wayne Barker. We met, we wrote a few songs and in 2005 we received a commission to write a musical. We talked over many ideas but in the end came up with an original story. This is how 'LIVE! NUDE! GIRL! began.
