Whitaker Gannon

WHITAKER GANNON - DIRECTOR (she/her)

At the Arts Center, she has directed Clue, Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, RED, Little Shop of Horrors, and Something Rotten. In summer of 2024, she was the Associate Artistic Director for South Carolina's New Play Festival. She is the Director of Arts & Community Engagement for Lean Ensemble Theatre. She will be directing their Spring '25 show Master Class.

Prior, she has been Associate Director for Legally Blonde, Murder on the Orient Express, Kiss Me, Kate, and Neil Simon’s Rumors at the Arts Center. At Lean Ensemble, she has associate directed Proof, Fun Home, and other productions. She directed and edited the streamed production of ChipandGus in 2021.

Whitaker studied theatre and directing at Wake Forest University, where she directed several works, including Us/Them, In on It, and Laughtracks. As a performer, Whitaker’s professional shows have included Les Miserables, The Who’s Tommy, South Pacific, 42nd Street, Anything Goes, and Hairspray. Whitaker’s Wake Forest University theatrical acting credits include A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, A Bright Room Called Day, Caucasian Chalk Circle, and Spring Awakening.
