Tina Muñoz Pandya BIO

Tina Muñoz Pandya (she/her) is an actor, musician, and teaching artist currently based out of Chicago. You may have seen her onstage at Court Theatre, Theatre Wit, Jackalope Theatre, The Hypocrites, Steppenwolf Theatre, Chicago Children's Theatre, Firebrand Theatre, First Folio, Steep Theatre, and The House Theatre of Chicago among others, and she is a proud ensemble member at Sideshow Theatre and Shattered Globe Theatre. She also enjoys taking her talents on the road, and has flexed her Shakespeare muscles while touring with the National Players and Montana Shakespeare in the Parks. She's also been fortunate enough to travel to some truly awesome regional theatres in DC, New York, and LA as part of The Hypocrites' wildly popular Gilbert and Sullivan repertory. A cellist and singer by training, so far she has learned to play the accordion, ukulele, spoons, and musical saw while doing these shows and is constantly adding to her musical arsenal. She occasionally guests with a few bands around the city on different instruments, and teaches with Chicago Children's Theatre. When she's not running around doing all that, you can find her cooking, watching wholesome British tv, experimenting with accents, or recording for various different podcasts and audio dramas. Check out her voice work in the Chicago-based audio drama The Vanishing Act!

Review: HOUSE OF JOY at Loretto-Hilton Center For The Performing Arts

Visually stunning and brimming with romance, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis’ House of Joy is a compelling production that pulls no punches in emphasizing the dangers of authoritarianism and the power of love in tempestuous times.

BWW Review: H.M.S. PINAFORE at Olney Theatre Center - Bring the Kids and Enjoy This Spoof of the Famous Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta

I do not believe I have ever seen a more 'kid-friendly' theatrical event than the Olney Theatre Company's H.M.S. PINAFORE. Olney has welcomed back 'The Hypocrites' Chicago based troupe (they last appeared during the summer of 2016) who have taken their productions of both PINAFORE and PIRATES OF PENZANCE previously to the Pasadena Playhouse, and the Skirball Center in New York. 'The Hypocrites', founded in 1997 by Artistic Director Sean Graney have taken their repertories all over the country. 'The House Theatre of Chicago' has become the fiscal agent of 'The Hypocrites' and now serves as a co-producer.

Review: Gilbert and Sullivan's PIRATES OF PENZANCE Reimagined as an Interactive Beach Party at the Pasadena Playhouse

Back in the late 60s, groups of people would meet up at an agreed-upon place to attend a "happening," defined as a partly improvised or spontaneous piece of theatrical or other artistic performance, typically involving audience participation. This description is exactly how I would describe what is taking place at the Pasadena Playhouse through February 25, 2018, with Gilbert and Sullivan's PIRATES OF PENZANCE as reimagined by the Chicago-based Hypocrites acting troupe who turns the classic on its head, surprising audiences with a raucous 80-minute beach party that blends the original operetta with modern day attire, a central stage area from which the tossing of beach balls is encouraged, kiddie wading pools are available for seats, and lots of audience participation is expected during every moment the 10 energetic actor-musicians are in the house.
