Hollywood, CA -- The 30th anniversary of the L. Ron Hubbard Awards for winners of the internationally-acclaimed Writers and Illustrators of the Future Contests will be held in Los Angeles at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre on Sunday, April 13th and contest organizers announced today that Mark Lefebvre of Kobo, Inc. will speak at the event on the future of publishing.

Brad Torgersen will see his next short story published in 'Analog' in the March 2014 issue. The story 'Life Flight' will appear on the cover. Brad is still pinching himself and stated, 'I've got cover prominence... alongside David Brin no less. Jerry Oltion and Karl Schroeder are on the cover too!' This is Brad's eighth story published by the magazine.

Science fiction/fantasy fans and authors will explore the subject of scientific ideas at this year's festivities at the 40th annual Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society convention on Thanksgiving weekend at the LAX Marriott. The annual panel will be moderated by the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future contest director Joni Labaqui and the panels will also include judges Todd McCaffrey, Tim Powers, and Gregory Benford. Several past winners of the contest will also participate, including 1991 Grand Prize winner James C. Glass, 2010 Grand Prize winner Laurie Tom, winners Brennan Harvey, and Scott T. Barnes.

Every quarter the thousands of entries in the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future contest - the world's largest science fiction and fantasy contest for new writers - are reviewed to see what the current popular subjects are. The current trend leans towards new ideas, original concepts. Those are categorized as science fiction.

Patty Jansen of Sydney, Australia and 2011 winner of the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future contest, announced the release of her novel, 'Ambassador', through Ticonderoga Publications. The publishing house has been in business since 1996 and has also won the Ditmar Award, Australia's version of the Hugo Awards in the United States.

As the contest just received and entry from the 160th country on Earth, organizers in the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future speculative fiction contest noted that there are entries from every continent on Earth, except for Antarctica.
