DISNEY ON CLASSIC - A MAGICAL NIGHT 2026 brings the beloved songs of Disney to life through the collaboration of a full orchestra and vocalists from New York. Now in its 24th year, this annual concert series takes “Let It Go ~ Open the Door” as its theme for 2026, with THE ORCHESTRA JAPAN and an international vocal ensemble transporting audiences into the enchanting worlds of Disney animation. With Frozen as its featured program, this year’s repertoire also includes music from such beloved titles as Aladdin, Moana 2, Encanto, and Tarzan, offering a musical celebration that spans generations.

Operas, melodramas, and tragedies have dramatized the novel’s psychological depth, expansive worlds, and literary rhythms for scenic experience. Given this history, for a director today to investigate the “adaptation of the novel” as a theoretical impulse might strike one as redundant.

In Avignon's 'other theatre', a purpose built space some miles out of the city center, Bashar Murkus presents his new dance theatre piece Milk. It is an elemental meditation of death, rebirth, and disaster. It is this theme of disaster in particular that captivates Murkus's imagination. The piece occupies itself with the viscera of the human experience, and expresses that by having blood, water, and milk spill onto the stage floor. Though for all this connective tissue to the anxieties of the present day, its poetic visual language doesn't expand far past the realm of homage to theatre artists who came before.
