Training: Sofia was born in Portugal and has lived in London for the past four years. She trained at the Conservatorio de Musica do Porto in Oporto and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Theatre includes: resident actress with theatre company A Oficina, touring extensively in Portugal and Brazil. Her first role in a musical was the lead Hanna Gzelak in the Portuguese musical Scents of Light. Two years into her degree in classical singing she joined the London company of The Phantom of the Opera, understudying and playing Christine on numerous occasions. Sofia was very proud to be nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance as Maria in West Side Story and won the Whatsonstage Theatregoers’ Choice Award in the same category (Sadler’s Wells, UK and world tours).
Film includes: Portuguese voiceover of Jasmin in Disney’s DVD trilogy Aladdin.
Television includes: Professor Olivia Matos in the Portuguese series Morangos Com Acucar (Portuguese Golden Globe nomination for Revelation of the Year 2010).
Other work includes: concerts and private events in Portugal and the UK. Concerts include Vivaldi Gloria, Bach Magnificat and Pergolesi Stabat Mater.
