BIO

Savannah Beckford (they/she)

A genderqueer actor and playwright from New York, now residing in London. They are committed to creating work that celebrates blackness, gender, feminism, and queerness, and discusses the issues and biases that surround them. Writing includes Racist Boys Make Me Wet (Cervantes Theatre), Carnivorous (Crossroads Theatre Company), SIMbiosis (Mountview) Where the fuck are all the Black Lesbians in London? And other musings (Peripeteia Theatre Company). They are a stage and screen actor, having graduated from Wagner College Theatre in 2020 with a
major in Theatre Performance and a minor in Psychology. They then attended the prestigious Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in 2022. Sav is a proud member of Black Thrive Lambeth, a working group that strives to improve the mental well being of black queer people.

This weekend, Dec. 1-3, the Wagner College Theatre will present Small Town Story in its Stage One studio theater, part of the WCT's New Works Agenda of dramatic works in progress. The musical, written by Brandon James Gwinn and Sammy Buck and directed by WCT professor Michele Pawk, will feature performances each night at 8 p.m. and matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. All performances are free, with reservations suggested by calling 718-390-3259.

Accordingly, I had the upmost confidence that the incarnation at The Noel Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center was going to be just as stellar; and it is. The wonderful production runs through February 7th at the Long Island venue.
