Birth Place: Ashland, Ohio

BIO

Ryan Shreve is a performer, projection designer, video designer, photographer, videographer, and creative media artist working across theatre, live entertainment, and visual storytelling.

As a performer, Ryan brings an actor’s instinct for story, rhythm, and emotional clarity to every creative project. That same performance background deeply informs his work as a designer and media creator, allowing him to approach visuals not only for how they look, but for how they support the people onstage, shape audience focus, and elevate the world of a production.

Through his creative studio, Fyrebird Media, Ryan creates projection design, lighting-integrated media, production photography, promotional video, and theatrical marketing content for artists, arts organizations, and live events. His work blends cinematic atmosphere, technical precision, and story-first design, helping productions and performers create visuals that feel intentional, immersive, and memorable.

Whether he is acting onstage, designing media for a musical, capturing production photography, or creating promotional content for an arts organization, Ryan’s work is rooted in one goal: making live performance look and feel unforgettable.

Review: CCT'S IN THE LAND OF OZ at Columbus Children's Theatre
by Paul Batterson - Sep 26, 2025

What makes this show click is its attention to detail. DelMonte said he wanted to make IN THE LAND OF OZ “theatre beyond four walls.” Project coordinator Maya Eberhardt, experience coordinator Bessie D. Smith, and project manager Brian Altiere make sure the audience’s journey is crammed with visual elements on every corner and keeps the audience moving in a steady pace.
Review: AMERICAN IDIOT at at Short North Stage
by Paul Batterson - Sep 8, 2025

What did our critic think of AMERICAN IDIOT at At Short North Stage? In Short North Stage’s production of AMERICAN IDIOT, everything isn’t meant to be okay. The characters are disappointed, disillusioned, and defiant, and their story is depressing, dark, and disturbing.

Review: NEXT TO NORMAL at Riffe Center Studio 1
by Paul Batterson - Oct 29, 2024

Sometimes you can tell a lot about a production even before you enter the theatre. For example, the Columbus Children’s Theatre placed a large fishbowl of Kleenex packets in the lobby for attendees of its musical, NEXT TO NORMAL.

Review: WALLER'S LIFE IS ONLY IN PERIPHERY IN AIN'T MISBEHAVIN'
by Paul Batterson - Sep 9, 2024

The cast adjusts the mood of the show quickly. It seamlessly moves from the bravado of “Fat and Greasy” to a somber reading of “Black and Blue” as images of newspaper coverage of lynchings and hate crimes are projected in the background.

Review: HAIR: THE AMERICAN TRIBAL LOVE-ROCK MUSICAL at Garden Theatre
by Paul Batterson - May 13, 2024

HAIR is not your typical linear, point A to point B musical. It roughly ambles through vignettes of the members of a “tribe” of hippies in New York City. And yet, HAIR is as important as it is subversive. Without it, shows such as RENT, ANGELS IN AMERICA, and HAMILTON probably wouldn’t stand a chance to make it to Broadway.
Review: SNS' THE PROM at Garden Theater
by Paul Batterson - Mar 17, 2024

Broadway Musicals are often fantasies, musical representations about things that could not possibly happen. The saddest thing about Short North Stage’s production of THE PROM, which runs from March 14 through April 7 at the Garden Theater, is that it is based partly in truth.
Review: BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL at Garden Theatre
by Paul Batterson - Jul 16, 2023

What did our critic think of BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL at Garden Theatre? Thanks to an amazing catalog of songs, a powerhouse cast and the tight orchestration, the musical, which closes July 30 , is one of the “can’t be missed” shows this summer.
Review: REVIEW: INTO THE WOODS at Short North Stage
by Paul Batterson - Mar 20, 2023

What did our critic think of REVIEW: INTO THE WOODS at Short North Stage? There are two adages most people know about the theatre: 'Break a leg' and 'The show must go on.' Short North Stage experienced both as it prepared for its 19-show run of INTO THE WOODS.
