BIO
R. Scott Purdy earned a BA in Dramatic Arts from Amherst College, worked extensively in show business for several years, then met a girl, left show-biz, earned an MBA, married the girl, became a banker, reared a family, and retired. Since retiring from banking in 2014, he has appeared in thirty stage roles and 10 independent films. Favorite recent roles include: Ray in Yankee Tavern (Steel Beam Theatre); Jean Cocteau in Satie et Cocteau (Genesis Theatrical); Edward Seaton in Holiday (Edge of the Wood); Anthony Anderson in The Devil's Disciple; Mushnik in Little Shop of Horrors; and Harlow Shapley in Creation's Birthday.
Scott is a recent graduate of The Academy at Black Box Acting, Executive Director of Chimera Ensemble, and on the Board of Steel Beam Theatre.

The Resident Theatre at Edge of the Wood is will welcome actors and patrons back to in-person performances with a new production of The Book of Will, by Lauren Gunderson, in their space at the Edgebrook Community Church, April 22 through May 1.

Genesis Theatrical Productions will present the U.S. premiere of the play SATIE ET COCTEAU: A Rehearsal of a Play of a Composer by a Poet by Canadian playwright Mike Czuba about the classical music composer Erik Satie and his complex relationship with the surrealist poet Jean Cocteau. The play will be presented tomorrow, May 12, through June 5, 2016 at the Athenaeum Theater, 2936 N. Southport, Chicago. Playwright Mike Czuba will be in attendance at the May 14th performance.
