Latino Theater Company and Playwrights’ Arena will present the world premiere of an epic World War II odyssey inspired by an astonishing, little-known true story.

Los Angeles-based Latino Theater Company has been awarded a $5 million grant from national and local foundations to spearhead the National Latinx Theater Initiative. This new re-granting program aims to boost the national profile of Latinx theater companies and nurture artistic voices in a post-pandemic landscape.

Ojai Playwrights Conference announced the founding of the Robert H. Egan Legacy Fund at their 25th Anniversary Benefit Gala on June 4, 2022. Egan leaves his role at OPC at the end of this year.

The Ojai Playwrights Conference has announced that the first recipient of the annual Dr. Kerry English Artist Award will be Julia Izumi, whose play “Regretfully, So the Birds Are” has been selected for development during the 2021 OPC New Works Festival slated for August.

The Actors Fund and affordable housing developer Thomas Safran & Associates, broke ground on The Hollywood Arts Collective, a $120 million project that will include 151 units of affordable housing for artists, the Glorya Kaufman Theater, rehearsal studios, non-profit arts office space and a new home for The Actors Fund Western Region Headquarters.

Los Angeles-based dance company Heidi Duckler Dance (HDD) announces the establishment of the Dr. Kerry English Creative Fellowship. English passed away in April of this year.  The program is being underwritten by his widow Olga Garay-English at $15,000 per year for the first 5 years of the program which will fund two artists and two students for a six-month residency per year.     

The Ojai Playwrights Conference is establishing a first-time annual award, the Dr. Kerry English Artist Award, in honor of OPC board member Dr. Kerry English who passed away in April of this year.

Dr. Kerry English, pediatrician, long time director of the pediatric division at Martin Luther King Hospital and board member for Ojai Playwrights Conference and Rogue Machine, passed away on April 27, 2020, of complications of ALS. A board member for several nonprofit family and child support organizations, he was also a well-known Los Angeles theatre and arts aficionado. He was committed to caring for children and engaging with diverse communities throughout his life. His long-term relationships testify to his belief in diversity and inclusion. Kerry was 74 years old.

Loghaven Artist Residency, a newly created residency for emerging and established artists in the fields of visual art, dance, music, writing, theater, and interdisciplinary work, announces its first group of artists and the completion of its campus. The launch of Loghaven Artist Residency is the culmination of years of planning, research, design, and input from artists, arts leaders, and the Alliance of Artist Communities.

Ford Theatres presents Olga Pericet Company, the company of award-winning dancer (National Dance Prize 2018, Spain) Olga Pericet, in La Espina, for one performance only, Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 8:00 pm at the Ford Theatres. La Espina won the Best Performance Award at the Jerez Festival in 2017.
