TheatreWorks Silicon Valley¬†continues its 51st season with the hit musical¬†Ragtime. This sweeping and stirring musical masterpiece paints a portrait of America at the dawn of the twentieth century, interweaving the lives of three families‚ÄĒan African American family, a Jewish Immigrant family, and a wealthy white family‚ÄĒfinding their places and pursuing the American Dream in a rapidly changing world. Featuring a Tony Award-winning book by Pulitzer Prize finalist Terrence McNally (Master Class,¬†Kiss of the Spider Woman,¬†The Rink) and a Tony Award-winning score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Once on This Island,¬†Anastasia,¬†Seussical The Musical), this musical is based on E. L. Doctorow‚Äôs best-selling novel of the same name.¬†Ragtime¬†will be presented¬†June 1-26, 2022¬†(press opening: June 4) at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. So very nice to be able to write Directed by Robert Kelley. The TheatreWorks founder retired in 2020 after being awarded a well-deserved 2019 Regional Tony award and given his long history with Paul Gordon, he's back at the helm of this sumptuous, meticulously crafted production. No stranger to TheatreWorks, Gordon received a Tony nomination for the Broadway musical of Jane Eyre, then moved onto the world premiere of Pride and Prejudice at TheatreWorks in 2019 and Austen's EMMA.

Stars of stage and screen, playwrights, composers, and supporters of TheatreWorks Silicon Valley came together Saturday, November 2, 2019 to celebrate the acclaimed regional theatre at And the Tony Award Goes To‚ĶCelebrating TheatreWorks at 50, a once-in-a-lifetime event honoring the company's half-century and its 2019 Regional Theatre Tony¬ģ Award. Some 480 guests attended this extraordinary event which raised nearly $800,000 for TheatreWorks marking it the most attended and most successful fundraiser in the company's history. Guests appropriately gathered in the heart of Silicon Valley at Mountain View's Computer History Museum for cocktails, dinner, and a lively auction, then proceeded to the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, where a stellar array of TheatreWorks alumni returned to pay tribute to its history through words and music.
