Nicholas Ponting BIO

Nick Ponting is a set designer, performer, and stained glass artist from the Pacific Northwest currently based in sunny San Diego, CA. After graduating from Western Washington University in 2014 he performed and designed in Seattle (The 5th Avenue Theatre, Seattle Rep, Showtunes Theatre Co., Theatre Battery) while also working at Seattle Stained Glass as a fabricator. In 2016 Nick moved to Texas to work as a resident designer at The Public Theatre of San Antonio. In 2018, Ponting attended graduate school at UC San Diego, graduating in 2021 with an MFA in set design. In 2022, Nick taught scenic design at Western Washington University. He also served as Assistant Director on LA Opera’s production of On Gold Mountain at The Huntington Library. Nick is a regular collaborator with David Reynoso & Optika Moderna, creating immersive performance installations in San Diego such as Las Quinceañeras, Porteleza, and Teatro Piñata. As it became popular throughout the world, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME became a beloved Disney story which later became a stage production.
