Mark DeGarmo Dance (MDD) is a not-for-profit charity founded in 1987 with a three-part mission: Education, Performance and Intercultural Community. For 30 years, MDD has provided interdisciplinary dance arts education programs to disenfranchised, economically challenged kids, families, and schools across New York City's five boroughs.

Mark DeGarmo Dance will honor dance writer DEBORAH JOWITT with the 2016 'Educational Visionary' Lifetime Achievement Award to celebrate her many accomplishments. Ms. Jowitt danced with notable names such as Jose Limon and Anna Sokolow, choreographed works shown in venues in both the United States and overseas, published articles in The New York Times, The Village Voice and Dance Magazine, among others, and has lectured, taught and conducted workshops at universities in the U.S. and abroad.

Hilary Easton + Company presents the New York premiere of Light and Shade, an evening-length dance performed by Emily Pope-Blackman and Michael Ingle, with original music by Mike Rugnetta, lighting by Kathy Kaufmann, and costumes by Madeleine Walach. Performances begin at 7:30 pm, October 14, 15, and 16 (Thursday-Saturday) and 2pm October 17(Sunday).
