After a nationwide search including 85 applicants, the National Center for Choreography - Akron (NCCAkron) announced four new hires: three Program Managers Erin Donohue (Phoenix, AZ), Michelle Sipes (Nashville, TN), and Michelle Yard (Brooklyn, NY); and Marketing & Communications Manager Christi Welter (Pittsburgh, PA).
USC Dance Premieres Student Choreography This Month
The University of South Carolina dance program will present its bi-annual Student Choreography Showcase, a concert of premiere original works by dance majors, November 29 – December 2 at Drayton Hall Theatre.
Wharton Center to Present OF EQUAL PLACE: ISOTOPES IN MOTION in November
Of Equal Place: Isotopes in Motion will incorporate dance, video, and physics to create an exhilarating and engaging performance on Sunday, November 6 at 1:00PM. This project is a mass collaboration between Wharton Center, the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB), Dance Exchange, Women and Minorities in Physical Sciences (WaMPS), and community organizations.
Yerba Buena Center For The Arts Presents Liz Lerman's WICKED BODIES
Yerba Buena Center for the Arts will present Wicked Bodies, an interactive dance-theater piece by visionary choreographer and YBCA Senior Fellow Liz Lerman. Performances take place Friday, October 28–Sunday, October 30 at The Blue Shield of California Theater in San Francisco.
Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Dance Heginbotham, and Liz Lerman Perform in Week 8 of Festival 2022
The eighth week of the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival 2022 welcomes Hubbard Street Dance Chicago to the Ted Shawn Theatre, from Aug. 10-14. Week 8 of the Festival will also feature Dance Heginbotham on the outdoor Henry J. Leir Stage from August 10-14, and a performance by Liz Lerman with her new evening-length dance theater piece, Wicked Bodies, on the Jacob's Pillow grounds from August 10-13.
Leviathan Lab Announces Work-in-Progress Showing Of Ariel Estrada's FULL CONTACT In Residency At BRIC
Leviathan Lab, a creative studio for Asian American Pacific Islander theatre artists, will present two work-in-process showings of FULL CONTACT, a new solo performance work written and performed by Ariel Estrada (Producing Artistic Director, Leviathan Lab; BIPOC Leadership Circle, artEquity) and directed by Gaven Trinidad (Rising Leader of Color, Theatre Communications Group) with mentorship by Chay Yew.
Paul Taylor Dance Company Runs for Special Engagement at the Joyce Theater
Paul Taylor Dance Company (PTDC) will come to the Joyce Theater June 14-19, 2022, offering audiences a unique series of programs that showcase early works choreographed by Paul Taylor including Tracer, Fibers and Aureole, along with a World Premiere by Michelle Manzanales and the New York Premiere of A Call for Softer Landings by Peter Chu, both of which were commissioned by PTDC. American Theater Group's PlayLab Provides Forum for BIPOC playwrights
Playwright Pandora Scooter was first drawn to life in the theater as a fifth grader. She was assigned a book report, and rather than simply write one, she decided to perform it for the class. “Fortunately, I had a teacher who encouraged me,” she explained. “From that point on, I knew I loved theatre.”
