Juilliard will hold its 118th commencement ceremony in New York on May 19 at 11am at Alice Tully Hall, presided over by Juilliard President Damian Woetzel and Vincent Mai, chair of the board of trustees. It will also be livestreamed at juilliard.edu.

From May 9-15, Samantha Shay’s short film Mother Melancholia will be available for on-demand viewing via pay what you can, and all funds raised will go towards aiding the Ukrainian people. The film is a multi-layered portrait of four women set to a soundtrack for the end of the world. As part of the Under Construction Festival and in partnership with Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, this special digital programming event will be available at bit.ly/MotherMelancholia.

The ceremony will be held outdoors on the Lincoln Center campus in Damrosch Park, presided over by Juilliard President Damian Woetzel. The Juilliard School today announced that alumnus Wynton Marsalis, trumpeter, director of Juilliard Jazz Studies, and artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center, will address the graduates at the school's 113th commencement ceremony, which takes place Friday, May 18, 2018, at 11am in Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. Mr. Marsalis received an honorary doctor of music degree from Juilliard in 2006. This will be the final commencement for Juilliard President Joseph W. Polisi, who has had a long association with Mr. Marsalis and asked that he be the commencement speaker. In July, Damian Woetzel will begin as the school's seventh president.

Juilliard today announced that Obie-award winning director Evan Yionoulis, currently professor in the practice of acting and directing at Yale School of Drama and a resident director at Yale Repertory Theatre, will become the school's Richard Rodgers Director of Drama at Juilliardstarting with the 2018-19 academic and performance season. The Juilliard Drama Division, celebrating its 50th anniversary this season, offers a program that encompasses one of this country's most respected conservatory educations for actors as well as highly successful pre-professional mentoring for playwrights.
