heater J has announced that David Lloyd Olson (he/him) will become its new Managing Director on August 16, 2021. Olson joins Artistic Director Adam Immerwahr (he/him) in the leadership of the theater, which is a program of the Edlavitch DC Jewish Community Center (EDCJCC).

Theater J Selected To Participate In New National Initiative


Following a rigorous selection process, Theater J will participate in a significant nation-wide program, the Single Ticket Theater Collective, launched by Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theater, and TRG Arts, an industry pioneer and leader in data-driven consulting for arts and cultural professionals. During the five-month initiative, Theater J and nine other theaters from across the country will collaborate on single ticket campaign plans, classroom-style shared learning, and one-on-one consulting with the goal of maximizing single ticket revenue and deepening patron loyalty.

Theater J Artistic Director Adam Immerwahr and Managing Director Jojo Ruf announce the 2019-2020 season, welcoming home audiences to a beautiful and refreshed theater located in the newly renovated Edlavitch DC Jewish Community Center on 16th Street. The season includes four plays and one musical, all being produced for the first time in DC, as well as the triumphant return of a recent Theater J hit. From an intoxicating new musical set in Tel Aviv based on the Song of Songs to the late-career masterpiece by multiple Pulitzer Prize-winner Edward Albee, Theater J's season celebrates journeys of every kind with a provocative and ambitious slate of plays. Of the six shows, three have future runs: two in New York City and one at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.

Theater J Announces New Managing Director


Theater J, the nation's pre-eminent professional Jewish theater, is delighted to announce that Jojo Ruf will become its new Managing Director on January 28, 2019. Ruf joins Artistic Director Adam Immerwahr in the leadership of the theater, which is a program of the Edlavitch DC Jewish Community Center (EDCJCC). Ruf comes to Theater J from The Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics (The Lab) at Georgetown University, where she has been serving as Managing Director since 2015. She is a nationally-recognized field leader with particular expertise in international collaborations and new play development.

The Welders Have Started The Search For Their Next Generation


The Welders-Washington's only playwrights' collective devoted exclusively to developing and producing new work-are starting the search for a third generation of generative artists to take the helm of the organization on January 1, 2020. Applications are now available on TheWelders.org.

Play In A Day Returns Feb. 17


Six professional Washington, D.C. area theatre companies will write, direct, rehearse and perform original plays based on similar themes in only 24 hours. The plays will be presented at the 14th annual Play In A Day, a one-of-a-kind event produced by the Bethesda Urban Partnership and Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 8pm at Imagination Stage, located at 4908 Auburn Avenue in downtown Bethesda.
