BIO

Jesse Bliss is the Founder and Artistic Director of The Roots and Wings Project. As a visionary, she created The Roots and Wings Project to cultivate artistic growth and provide a space for powerful stories that have been historically overlooked. A passionate advocate for women, Jesse’s work continues to challenge and inspire, shining light on voices that need to be heard. She is an international playwright, director, producer, actress, poet, journalist and veteran arts educator. Some of her groundbreaking productions, that have been showcased internationally, include ROOTS AND WINGS, DIAMONDS, A RECORD OF LIGHT, TREE OF FIRE, WOMEN AT WORK, MATRIACH, DTLA LUMINOUS STREETS, and THE JOY RIDE. Jesse was a co-producer and co-host of Pacifica Radio’s THINK OUTSIDE THE CAGE for a decade. Her work has been presented at the United Nations, she's been featured in an Emmy-nominated segment on Spotlight Arts: Standup for the Arts, and consulted, written curriculum, taught and presented with Institute of the Future, California Arts Council, Center Theatre Group at the Mark Taper Forum, and The Geffen Playhouse among countless others. She recently completed her newest play, REALM OF THE RIVER, with an upcoming reading at LATC this year. Jesse is a proud mother to her 12-year-old daughter.

Luminous Streets World Premiere To Take Place In Highland Park This September

The Roots and Wings Project will present the world premiere of Luminous Streets in Highland Park, Los Angeles, September 12–28, 2025. This site-specific theatrical tour will feature new plays by Roger Q. Mason, Jesse Bliss, and others, performed in venues along York Boulevard.

THE JOY RIDE Comes to Oakland This Month
