Right now, we live in a world where the future of theater seems a bit uncertain. Nevertheless, so many people are coming up with different theater initiatives as well as plays that are possible to be produced during the pandemic.

On Site Opera, an organization dedicated to presenting site-specific opera productions in non-traditional venues throughout New York City, announces its dynamic 2019-2020 season. As the company has grown in recent years, they have established a season that includes three core mainstage productions, The Turn of the Screw, October 25-27, Amahl and the Night Visitors, December 4-8, and Das Barbecu, January 26-February 11, along with additional partnerships and events beyond the boundaries of the New York City boroughs in summer of  2020. 

Wave Hill is proud to announce a collaboration with On Site Opera (OSO) to present Benjamin Britten's operatic ghost story, The Turn of the Screw, October 25-27, 2019. This immersive production will take place on Wave Hill's grounds, indoors and out, with audience members following the characters to each location.

The Metropolitan Opera presents Mozart's timeless drama Don Giovanni, with 12 performances January 30, 2019, to April 18, 2019. All performances of Michael Grandage's production are conducted by Cornelius Meister in his Met debut.

The Met is offering Robert Carsen's 1999 production of Arrigo Boito's MEFISTOFELE to show us what bass-baritone Christian Van Horn--winner of this year's Richard Tucker Award--could do in his first starring role at the house and the answer was: plenty.

A deal with the devil is struck with powerful results in the Metropolitan Opera's production of Arrigo Boito's Mefistofele, with performances November 8 to December 1, 2018. Starring in the diabolical title role is 2018 Richard Tucker Award winner Christian Van Horn, who joins recent Tucker Award winners Angela Meade as the love interest Margherita and Michael Fabiano as the bargain-making Faust. Rounding out the cast is Jennifer Check as Helen of Troy. Not seen on the Met stage in nearly 20 years, Robert Carsen's production is conducted by Carlo Rizzi and Joseph Colaneri.

American Symphony Orchestra presents Elgar's oratorio The Apostles on Friday, May 12, 2017, the final performance of its four-concert series at Carnegie Hall this season. Music director Leon Botstein will lead the Orchestra and the Bard Festival Chorale in Elgar's magnificent and rarely-heard choral work.

These courageous men and women faced starvation, abuse, and imminent death, yet they defied the Nazis by performing this towering masterpiece.

In Don Giovanni, she takes on the demanding role of Donna Anna, who seeks to exact revenge on the infamous rake who has killed her father. British sopranoEmma Bell returns as the lovelorn Donna Elvira and young American mezzo-soprano Kate Lindsey adds a new role to her Met repertory as the ingenue Zerlina. Russian tenor Dmitry Korchak makes his Met debut as Anna's patient fiance, Don Ottavio, and Italian bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni returns as Don Giovanni's comic sidekick, Leporello, a role that won him plaudits at the 2011 premiere of this production by Michael Grandage. Czech bass-baritone Adam Plachetka makes his Met debut as Masetto, and veteran James Morris sings the role of the Commendatore, following his triumph as Hans Sachs in Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg earlier this season. Sets and costume designs are by Christopher Oram, lighting by Paule Constable, and choreography by Ben Wright. At the final performance on March 6, Jennifer Check will sing Donna Elvira, and Ievgen Orlov will sing the Commendatore.

Utah OperaArtistic Director Christopher McBeth today announced Utah Opera's 2015-16 season. The company's 38th season will feature four productions between October 2015 and May 2016 that encompass some of opera's greatest tales of love and sacrifice.

On Monday, November 11, the Metropolitan Opera Guild's 79th Annual Luncheon presents "Welcome Home, Jimmy!" to salute music directorJames Levine on his triumphant return to the Met podium. A perennial highlight of the opera season, the luncheon will bring together a host of artists who have collaborated with the preeminent conductor over the course of his long and celebrated Met tenure, as well as opera fans and an array of New York's society, business, and civic leaders. "Welcome Home, Jimmy!" will feature musical tributes by Dolora Zajick, "a mezzo in a class by herself" (New York Times); Thomas Hampson, "America's foremost baritone" (International Herald Tribune); and Grammy Award-winning bass-baritone Eric Owens, all accompanied by the Met's Director of Music Administration, Craig Rutenberg. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Guild's education programs in New York City and throughout the country.

From June to August, Orchestra of St. Luke's presents its 34th summer season at the Caramoor Music Festival, taking place in the beautiful al fresco Venetian Theater at Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in Katonah, New York. The five-concert series offers something for every musical taste, with a Broadway musical, symphonic masterworks, elegant chamber music for unusual groupings, and a longtime tradition of OSL's Caramoor residencies-Bel Canto operas under the baton of Will Crutchfield.

On Saturday, April 13, 2013, the Oratorio Society of New York announced the winners of the 37th Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition, the only major vocal competition devoted to solo oratorio singing.

Since 1977, the Oratorio Society of New York, the city's standard for grand choral performance, has held the only major vocal competition devoted to solo oratorio singing. Named after the OSNY music director from 1973 to 2005, the Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition each year draws applicants from around the world.
