First Stage has announced that THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER: THE MUSICAL returns to the Marcus Center's Todd Wehr Theater this holiday season after its smash-hit run in 2018.

The Board of Directors, Artistic Director David Leidholdt, General Manager David Gritzner, along with show sponsors Brigandi, Gleghorn, and Haffley, and Keystone Clearwater Solutions LLC, have announced the upcoming production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical with book and lyrics by Jahnna Beecham, music and lyrics Malcolm Hillgartner.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, a delightful family story about the true meaning of Christmas, will open at the Lakewood Theatre Company on Friday, December 13 at 7:30 PM. Performances continue on December 14, 15,  and 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22 at 7:30 PM. There will also be matinee performances at 2:00 PM on Sunday Dec. 15, Saturday Dec. 21 and Sunday Dec. 22. After the opening night performance on Dec. 13, there will be a hot cocoa and cookie reception. 

A fun, new musical adaptation of an audience favorite comes to First Stage this holiday season. Created by the talented husband/wife team of Jahnna Beecham (Playwright/Lyricist) and Malcolm Hillgartner (Composer/Lyricist) and based on the play by Barbara Robinson, THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER: THE MUSICAL is filled with catchy,'60s-inspired original music and a delightful story that both young and old will enjoy. The horrible Herdmans are the worst kids in the history of the world. The entire town panics when these rowdy six siblings are cast in the church's annual Christmas pageant. It's up to good-hearted Mrs. Bradley to help the Herdmans - and the rest of the town - discover the true meaning of Christmas before it's too late. Silent night? After last year's highly successful South Carolina premier of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical, Columbia Children's Theatre (CCT) is remounting the show in what is becoming a holiday tradition December 1 - 9.

This Columbus Children's Theatre classic returns for the holiday season with a refreshing twist - a new musical adaptation. Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra launches its 2013-14 season with 'Beethoven, Mozart, Lutos?awski & Kodaly,' a dynamic program brimming with youth conducted by Music Director Jeffrey Kahane and featuring 24-year-old violinist Benjamin Beilman, lauded by The New York Times for his "handsome technique," on Saturday, September 21, 8 pm, at Pasadena's Ambassador Auditorium, and Sunday, September 22, 7 pm, at UCLA's Royce Hall. Beilman, making his LACO debut, performs Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5 in A major, K. 219, "Turkish," written when the composer was just 19 years old. Kahane also conducts Beethoven's Twelve Contredanses for Orchestra, Wo0 14, composed after Beethoven studied the art of dance music with Haydn and which contains fragments that appear in some of the composer's later great masterworks. The program concludes with two works rooted firmly in the 20th Century - Kodaly's masterful and deeply personal Dances of Galanta, rich in folk melodies that reflect the composer's idyllic childhood in the Hungarian countryside in Galanta, and Lutos?awski's Chain 2, the title of which is based on a musical form invented by the preeminent Polish composer and consists of two structurally independent strands linked together like chains. Beilman is also the featured soloist on Chain 2.

With stunning images of space from NASA projected on the big screen to complement Holst's sweeping music, this event is sure to inspire awe in both the magnificence of the universe and the wonder of music. Led by Guest Conductor Case Scaglione, assistant conductor of the New York Philharmonic and winner of the Conductor's Prize by the Solti Foundation U.S., this majestic composition follows works by the beloved Mozart, beginning with his energetic Overture to 'The Magic Flute.'
