New York, NY

The life and work of acclaimed violinist, Helen Armstrong, is told best by the man who loved her the most, her husband, Ajit Hutheesing.

In Hutheesing's memoir, "The Shadow of Her Smile", we are introduced to a selfless and enormously talented woman who quickly captured Hutheesing's heart. Helen Armstrong was first a musician, then a wife and mother and later a widow.

After Helen's first husband passed away, she made her way to Washington, Connecticut and, with the help and guidance of Avery Fisher, started a chamber music series and a School's Music Enrichment Program. After meeting Ajit, they started salon concerts in wealthy private residences in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Hutheesing describes his late wife and best friend as a true inspiration to all who had the good fortune of meeting Helen during their lives. In addition to being trained and instructed by the most famous classical violin teachers in the world, Helen also became a teacher and, over a period of 22 years, reached out to 125,000 children giving them the gift of classical music at an early age.

Speaking of the impact Helen had on everyone she met, Ajit wrote, "Helen always had time to stand and stare, enabling her to exude an aura of kindness that captured the imagination of children, family, musicians and friends - and me".

"The Shadow of Her Smile" tells the true story of two people from different cultures and backgrounds who found each other and created a life of profound love.

Helen's untimely death left her life's symphony unfinished, yet her legacy lives on through "The Shadow of Her Smile".
