The 92nd Street Y, New York School of Music announces new guests for their popular interview series, Cabaret Conversations, now in its fourth year.

Theater for the New City (TNC), 155 First Ave., will present 'Susan B.' by Toby Armour, a bioplay on sufferagist Susan B. Anthony directed by Joan Kane, October 12 to 16. In conjunction with the play, League of Women Voters of New York will conduct voter registration in the theater lobby (each performance) and talkbacks on the midterm elections featuring representatives of the League (Friday at 8:00 PM and Saturday at 8:00 PM).

We are living in a time of deliberate campaigns of voter suppression through a variety of means.  Coincidentally, or maybe not so coincidentally, we're living in a time when women's rights are increasingly under attack.  All of which makes it seem obligatory to revisit the life struggles of historic female activists and be inspired by their brave campaigns for fundamental rights. 

Theater for the New City's award-winning Street Theater Company will open its 2022 annual tour Saturday, August 6 with 'Teacher! Teacher! or PS I Love You,' a rip-roaring original musical which tells the story of a struggling teacher in an underserved neighborhood who puts her life on the line for her kids.

'Aunt Susan and Her Tennessee Waltz' by Toby Armour will be presented by Theater for the New City (TNC) April 28 to May 15.  The play dramatizes the leadership of Susan B. Anthony, Carrie Chapman Catt and Juno Frankie Pearce in the struggle to win the women's right to vote.

Stage Director George Ferencz (1947-2021), passed away on September 14 following a long illness according to his wife of 35 years, Sally Lesser. For over a half century, Ferencz was a beloved fixture of New York’s Off- and Off-Off-Broadway theatre scenes.

New Federal Theatre Celebrates Women's History Month with an online readings series.

'Her Tennessee Waltz,' a radio play by Toby Armour, will be presented by Theater for the New City for Women's History Month. 

On Saturday, November 14 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, Theater for the New City (TNC), 155 First Ave., will inaugurate 'Open 'Tho Shut,' a weekly series of free, live walk-by performances in which acts will be staged live in the theater's set shop for audiences of socially distanced passers-by, who will watch through an open garage door.

Theater for the New City's Village Halloween Costume Ball, a revered Village tradition that frequently welcomes over 1,200 revelers, will be presented virtually this year with most of its key traditions preserved. Notable artists including Everett Quinton, F. Murray Abraham, Austin Pendleton, Phoebe Legere and Penny Arcade.

The third installment of Toast The Vote!, the series sponsored by the CT Chapter of the League of Professional Theatre Women to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote, will take place on Zoom Sept. 23 at 5 pm Eastern with an excerpt from Susan B. by Toby Armour, featuring Jenne Vath as Susan B. Jenne Vath and Steven Hauck join the cast of THE DRAGON GRISWYND, Carrie Robbins' playful and poignant fairy tale for all ages. The one-act will have its world premier in the Community Space Theater at The Theater for the New City, Crystal Field (Artistic Director), as part of the 2018 Dream Up Festival, committed to wide-ranging, original theatrical visions.
