Is the Coronavirus in Riverdale? We may soon find out! Archie Comics just tweeted that pre-production has started on season 5 of RIVERDALE. 

The CW Network will officially launch its new season in January 2021 with its regularly scheduled series line-up, while loading up Fall 2020 with fresh original and acquired scripted series and alternative programming, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The CW Network.

On Riverdale's season premiere, the show bid farewell to Luke Perry, who passed away earlier this year. Following the episode, Cheryl Hickey and Graeme O'Neil of ET Canada Live react and reveal how the show decided on its farewell.

Riverdale executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa announced at today's Comic-Con 2019(R) panel that the season four premiere will feature a special tribute to Luke Perry. Perry's longtime friend and former costar Shannen Doherty will guest star in a special role in the episode, which will air Wednesday, October 9, at 8/7c on The CW. Entitled 'Chapter Fifty-Eight: In Memoriam,' the season premiere will reflect Luke Perry's enduring legacy and the indelible imprint his character, Fred Andrews, had on Riverdale.

Luke Perry has died today after suffering a massive stroke last Wednesday, February 27, according to Deadline. He was 52.
