After the occasionally muddy narrative in their tired Nutcracker, this is a Swan Lake with clear, emotional storytelling and magical choreography.

We start the 2023 as we mean to go on; with some cracking West End shows. From some well-deserved transfers from the Theatre Royal Bath and Chichester Festival Theatre, to the UK premiere of George Takei's musical and the unknown story of Charlie  Chaplin and  Stan Laurel there are some true theatrical treats in store in January.

English National Ballet continues its annual festive tradition this Christmas, presenting Nutcracker at the London Coliseum from 15 December 2022 - 7 January 2023 followed by Swan Lake from 12 - 22 January 2023.

Having received its world premiere at the London Coliseum in January 2022, Raymonda by English National Ballet's Artistic Director Tamara Rojo CBE, after Marius Petipa, will be performed at the Bristol Hippodrome (23 – 26 November 2022) and Southampton's Mayflower Theatre (30 November – 03 December 2022).

After more than a year since the curtain came down abruptly on Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s 50th Anniversary Season, PBT Artistic Director Susan Jaffe has announced a 2021-2022 Season that brings ballet back to the Benedum Center and August Wilson African American Cultural Center.

Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT) has announced updates to its upcoming 2020-2021 Season in response to programs rescheduled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis that forced the closure of non-essential businesses, including PBT and the Cultural Trust venues in which the company performs.

​​​​​​​Shanghai Ballet was founded in 1966. Spanning over thirty years, this company embraces a blend of traditional and Western dance styles. Xin Lili, Artistic Director since 2011, has brought to the company English versions of Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, a French version of Coppelia and La Sylphide, as well as George Balanchine's Serenade and La Valse. Lili has also invited creations to be made for the Shanghai Ballet. Currently, the Artistic Director of the Shanghai Ballet and it's eighty dancers is Derek Deane with his team. My first impression was that this is a fresh, young company, full of enthusiasm and with room to grow.

Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT) long-time principal dancer Luca Sbrizzi has announced his plans to close his 12-year career with PBT following the company's 50th Anniversary Season opener in October.
