After what has felt like weeks of covering cuts in funding to UK Arts budgets, some great news on two fronts from across the pond - a recent study of 2023 ticket buyers in the UK found that more than half of them were first time theatregoers.

David LeShay has announced that he will be stepping down from the Theatre Development Fund this June.

Four becomes three... According to Brooklyn Paper, the Theatre Development Fund closed down its Downtown Brooklyn TKTS window earlier this month due to low ticket sales.

Legendary designers William Ivey Long and Bob Crowley were among the four recipients of the 2009 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards. Five-time Tony Award winning costume designer William Ivey Long will receive the 2009 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for theatrical costume design, and, for his achievements as both a costume and scenic designer, Bob Crowley (also a five-time Tony Award winner) received the TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards' special Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Lifetime Achievement in Theatrical Design at a ceremony on Friday, March 27, at the Hudson Theatre in New York City.

Theatre Development Fund (TDF)'s new TKTS Discount Booth, located 'under the red steps' in Father Duffy Square (Broadway and 47th Street, Manhattan), opened on Thursday, October 16th at 3pm, preceded by a 12:30pm ribbon cutting ceremony in honor of the revitalization of Duffy Square. TKTS offers same-day discounts of up to 50% off for tickets to Broadway, Off Broadway, music and dance productions to performing arts lovers from the world over.

Theatre Development Fund (TDF) and MetroTech Business Improvement District today announced that a new TKTS Discount Ticket Booth located in the MetroTech Center in Downtown Brooklyn will open on Thursday, July 10 at 11am, preceded by a ribbon cutting ceremony. TDF will offer Broadway, Off Broadway, music, dance and Brooklyn performing arts events at discounted prices to Brooklyn residents and visitors. TKTS Downtown Brooklyn will be located on the ground floor of 1 MetroTech Center at the corner of Jay Street and Myrtle Avenue.

The application deadline for The Commercial Theater Institute and the O'Neill Theater Center's new joint program, The CTI-O'Neill Summer Workshop, has been extended until Thursday, May 22nd.
