The Oak Park Festival Theatre, Oak Park's premiere Equity theatre and the oldest professional classical theatre in the Midwest, has announced the cast and creative team for its summer show, William Shakespeare's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, opening July 15.

City Theatre has announced the fourth production of their 2022/2023 season, Karen Zacarías's Native Gardens directed by Marc Masterson, which runs from March 11 to April 2 on the City Theatre Main Stage.

The 65th Annual Drama Desk Awards has partnered with 'Stars in the House' to live stream this year's Nominations. Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley, the hosts of the virtual daily series benefiting the Actors Fund, will announce the nominees.

Cherry Lane Theatre concludes their season with the World Premiere of ORIGINAL SOUND, by Adam Seidel, directed by Elena Araoz with music direction by Daniel Ocanto. ORIGINAL SOUND will begin performances on Tuesday, April 30 run through June 8, 2019, and will celebrate its opening night tonight, May 9, 2019

Cherry Lane Theatre will conclude their season with the World Premiere of ORIGINAL SOUND, by Adam Seidel, directed by Elena Araoz with music direction by Daniel Ocanto. ORIGINAL SOUND will begin performances on Tuesday, April 30 run through June 8, 2019, and will celebrate its opening night on May 9, 2019, at Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St. in Manhattan). Award winning actor and playwright David Heron has returned to his classical roots, taking on the role of Lord Montague in the Shakespeare Festival of St Louis production of Romeo and Juliet.

Elena Araoz, a critically acclaimed New York-based director of opera and theater, will bring to life the tragedy of star-crossed lovers "Romeo & Juliet" June 1-24 at Shakespeare Glen in Forest Park. The production will feature a garage band trio from Omaha, hanging lanterns and streamers in the trees, an ultra-modern and uniquely lit set, and of course, the infamous balcony and a colorful moon for the two teenaged characters. The show, which begins at 8 p.m., is scheduled nightly, excluding Tuesdays. Preview performances are set for May 30-31.

"Into the Breeches," a play written by George Brant and directed by Nancy Bell, will be the main stage production of Shakespeare Festival St. Louis' new fourth pillar of programming, In the Works. The month-long, ticketed event, scheduled for late fall at the Grandel Theatre, will culminate the 2018 season that includes the Education Tour, SHAKE 38, the main stage production of "Romeo & Juliet" (June 1-24) and the Shakespeare in the Streets' production of "Blow, Winds," (June 15-16). 

A Chronicle of the Madness of Small Worlds, a pairing of two hilariously profound monologues from legendary playwright Mac Wellman's story collection, adapted and directed by Elena Araoz, has extended its run Next Door at New York Theatre Workshop through Sunday, February 11. The production is produced and sponsored by Harvey and Kathleen Guion and Dan McCarthy.

The 62nd Annual Drama Desk Awards, hosted by Michael Urie, were held at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street) tonight, June 4th.

Several Drama Desk nominees met the press today at the New York Marriott Marquis Manhattan Ballroom and BroadwayWorld was there to capture the event.

Earlier this morning, Laura Benanti (She Loves Me, Gypsy) and Javier Muñoz (Hamilton, In the Heights) announced the nominations for the 62nd Annual Drama Desk Awards.

New Georges will kick off their 25th anniversary season in collaboration with The Sol Project to present the World Premiere of ALLIGATOR, written by Hilary Bettis (The Americans on FX) and directed by Elena Araoz (Dipika Guha's Mechanics of Love with To-By-For Productions; Hook & Eye's She-She in the Ice Factory Festival).
