BIO
Writer/director Becky Lane is an independent filmmaker and founder of Nice Girl Films, a small woman-centered production company with footprints in both Ithaca, NY and New York City. Her short films, “Hens & Chicks,” “Poker Face” and “Happy Hour” have collectively screened at over 80 film festivals worldwide, garnering great acclaim and awards, including Best Short Film Audience Award in Rochester, Barcelona, London, and Durham. Current projects include "The Chanticleer," a 1955-based dramatic series in production for Fall 2013. Lane holds a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. As a sociologist and filmmaker, Lane's distinctive projects entertain while exploring provocative cultural complexities

Pride Films and Plays is delighted to announce Kellee Terrell's GEMMA as the winner of its 2017 LezPlay Contest. Out of three dozen entries, three scripts advanced to the finals. LezPlay Literary Coordinator Allison Fradkin says, "These two screenplays and one stage play elevate and celebrate dyke drama (and comedy), showcasing Sapphic-centric narratives that spoke loud and queer to our judges. "
