The world premiere production of The Convent, a new play by critically acclaimed playwright Jessica Dickey (The Amish Project, Charles Ives Take Me Home), directed by Daniel Talbott, opened just last night! Presented by Weathervane Productions (Wendy Vanden Heuvel, Producer), Rising Phoenix Repertory (Daniel Talbott, Artistic Director; Addie Johnson Talbott, Artistic Associate), in association with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, the production will run through February 17, 2019 at the Mezzanine Theatre at A.R.T./New York Theatres (502 West 53rd Street).

The Dionysian Collective, a group of actors and writers formed in 2016 in New York City, have created a literary journal, The Dionysian. Each issue publishes short plays selected through open submissions by playwrights from across the globe, interviews with established playwrights and theatre makers and art pieces from visual artists inspired by the curated plays. The Drama Book Shop hosts a free launch event with The Dionysian Collective to launch ISSUE 004, on its release date Today November 17, 2017 at 5pm. The evening will consist of readings from ISSUE 004, as well as an opportunity to purchase your own copy and meet the artists involved in the issue. Everyone is welcome to join The Dionysian family and help us 'Celebrate The Playwright' with wine, theatre and all things Dionysian. Rising Phoenix Repertory and Weathervane Productions have commissioned new plays from three female playwrights, which will each be produced over the next two seasons. Rising Phoenix Repertory's artistic director, Daniel Talbott, will direct all three plays. The first of the commissions onstage is Thieves by Charlotte Miller, making its world premiere at the Monroe Forum Theatre in North Hollywood, California, March 18, 2015 through April 4, 2015, co-produced by Rising Phoenix Repertory, Weathervane Productions and Rattlestick Playwrights Theater.
