Opera Orlando presents the Florida premiere of Scott Joplin's Treemonisha, a significant work in American opera history. Set in the Reconstruction Era, the story follows a young woman who leads her community towards enlightenment against conjurers who exploit ignorance. Directed by Roberta Emerson, the production features a talented cast including soprano Taylor-Alexis DuPont as Treemonisha, tenor Leo Williams as Remus, and bass baritone Lloyd Reshard, Jr. as Ned, celebrating themes of education and empowerment in a contemporary context.
