Blanco Temblor (White Tremor) at Open Scene at the Maitland Art Center

Blanco Temblor is a contemporary Puerto Rican play written and directed by Carola García López and produced by Teatro Público. At its center is Marina del Mar, a Puerto Rican astrophysicist living with bipolar disorder who has survived a suicide attempt.

Through humor, music, movement and a highly physical theatrical language, the play explores mental health, psychiatric care, medication, stigma, grief, family relationships and the possibility of healing. Rather than reducing its protagonist to a diagnosis, Blanco Temblor places her humanity, contradictions and relationships at the center of the story.

Following presentations in Puerto Rico, Chicago and Los Angeles, Blanco Temblor makes its Florida premiere at VI FIAE. The performance is presented in Spanish with multilingual accessibility in more than 25 languages.
