Theatre at St. Luke’s invites you to our upcoming production of THE PROM, a joyful, high-energy musical comedy with a whole lot of heart. With a book and lyrics by Chad Beguelin and Bob Martin, and music by Matthew Sklar, this Broadway hit follows a group of self-absorbed stage stars who descend on a small Indiana town to champion a high school student barred from bringing her girlfriend to prom.
What begins as a publicity stunt quickly transforms into something deeper, as unlikely friendships form and a community is challenged to grow. Filled with humor, dazzling music, and heartfelt moments, THE PROM is a story about courage, compassion, and what it truly means to show up for one another.
Directed by Steve MacKinnon, with choreography by Shane Bland and music direction by John R. Mason III and Bradley Roberts, THE PROM promises to be a touching, hilarious, and powerful story for our community to experience together.

As Broadway reopens and theatrical tours resume, audiences all over the United States are getting the chance to experience the latest productions from the Great White Way. The thrill of once again sitting in an audience with fellow theatre lovers and hearing the first notes of an overture is palpable. And getting to enjoy a production that is both entertaining and thought-provoking makes the experience that much more meaningful. Such is the case for the national tour of THE PROM, which will take the stage at the Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando December 7 – 12. Playing the role of the Broadway diva, Dee Dee Allen, will be Courtney Balan. I caught up with Courtney to find out more about THE PROM, her career and what it’s like performing this show to excited audiences all over the country.
