CFCArts Big Band Collaborates With Local Students For First Concert
The CFCArts Big Band is bringing swing to Orlando with their inaugural concert Spring Swing, and it's sure to make an impression. As music director Justin Muchoney explains, they're trying to make their first concert as special as possible. "We are producing two nights of the best jazz music you're going to find in town!" said Muchoney.
"We're doing something we've never done before by partnering with other organizations for this concert," said Muchoney. For this collaborative jazz fest-style concert, CFCArts Big Band will be joined by the Winter Park High School Jazz Ensemble, Valencia College Jazz Combo, and the Seminole State College Big Band. "To see the infusion of jazz music from high school through college students, to the adults in our Big Band is going to make it an incredible concert."
Spring Swing on Friday, April 5 will be held outside at Mead Botanical Garden. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and folding chairs to relax on while they enjoy a night of jazz and swing underneath the stars. The second performance will be held indoors at Calvary Orlando on April 6. This will be a more traditional concert experience with general seating.
Tickets for April 5 at Mead Garden are $18 and tickets for April 6 at Calvary Orlando are $10. Children 12 & under are free for both performances. Tickets are available at CFCArts.com. For Friday, April 5, purchase of a $5 parking pass is required to park on-site at Mead Garden. In the case of inclement weather, tickets for April 5 will be honored on Saturday, April 6.
