WOMAN IN THE ARENA IS A FUNNY, MOVING AND UPLIFTING ONE-SIDED CONVERSATION ABOUT NEURODIVERGENCE, TRAUMA, DEAD BODIES, AND OTHER LIGHTHEARTED TOPICS.
Written and performed by JEN DIGIACOMO (“The Day Elvis Died”, Popcorn Award shortlist recipient for Best New Writing at Edinburgh Fringe), and directed by TANA SIROIS (“UnTethered”, “Crushing Baby Animals”, “Tomorrow In The Battle”), WOMAN IN THE ARENA will return to NYC after a sold out run in March, playing on May 4th and 5th at 7:30pm at Wild Project, (195 E 3rd St, New York, NY, 10009). The May 4th performance will be followed by a talkback, moderated by director, performer, choreographer and producer, KELLY BARTNIK (Lead Producer of “The Death of Rasputin” and original cast member of “Sleep No More” in NYC and Boston).
WOMAN IN THE ARENA premiered at THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL FRINGE where it was nominated for an OFFIE AWARD. The show received 5 stars from WEE REVIEW (“heart stopping intensity”), 4 stars from BINGE FRINGE (“brilliantly staggered storytelling”), and 4 stars from FRINGE BISCUIT, who said the play “lands jaw-dropping revelations with surgical timing” and “leaves you with an open heart.”
JEN DIGIACOMO’S autobiographical play takes the audience on a darkly comedic, unexpected and deeply personal journey that deftly sifts through her remarkable past while highlighting the common thread of humanity that runs through all of us. An audience review from Edinburgh credits JEN DIGIACOMO with “raw and luminous honesty about her past life in this eloquent debut that evokes empathy and the deepest admiration for her fortitude — unmissable.”
Tickets are $30 general admission, and $20 with a valid student ID. For Tickets & Information, visit: https://thewildproject.org/performances/woman-in-the-arena/
