This concert explores the creative possibilities at the intersections where composers and performers educate - in the classroom, lessons and in concert. The program features music designed for student interaction as creators and performers through middle, secondary and college levels.
World-premiere performances: The Road Not Taken (for SATB Chorus), Savannah Variations for Strings, Rigadoon Redux for duo cello, and Sleepy Stars for baritone vocalist.
Additional music by Arvo Pärt, the Rolling Stones, and Mark Summers, including Meditation - Three Steps Bach to Ourselves for violin and piano.
Performed by student-educators of Teachers College, Columbia University with Joiner and Scheneman. Featured guest performers: Jessica Fishenfeld, Edward W. Hardy, Dudley Raine, Margaret Chan, Lana Norris, Edward Washington II, and conductor Derrick Thompson.
