Awaiting Evaluation at Teatro LATEA

"Awaiting Evaluation" is written for all those posed with the question of “What does it mean to face the precipice of great change while having to navigate the uncertainties and certainties of life; always expecting a greater judgement, and awaiting some promised ‘freedom’?”

Sid and Ali find themselves in a high school administrative office, knowing little more than the rules, the routine, and each other. As the pair spin in this perpetual limbo, they are left to their adolescent quandaries of identity, purpose, and affection while waiting in vain for the principal to arrive. Throughout the play, Sid and Ali encounter the harsh and calloused Mr. Hamilton, who totes the silent Bentley at his heel, and Sharon the Receptionist, the looming figure of authority whose silent pangs of disapproval could stop one’s heart. Mr. H, Bentley, and Sharon each change something within Sid & Ali, putting them at odds and complicating their endless waiting by challenging their ideas of purpose, morality, and authority. In their Sisyphean state, Sid and Ali search for what consolation they can in their desires for companionship and self-actuation of their dreams.

The minds behind Awaiting Evaluation include Alex Grech (Writer/Director), Jo Berenson (Producer), Elizabeth Hall (Director/Dramaturg), and Kendall Grady (Graphic Design/Marketing). Members of the company include Alex Grech (seen in "Juliet & Romeo" alongside Rebel Wilson and Jason Isaacs) as Ali and Carson S. Davis (seen in the upcoming feature, "Buena", directed by Kevin Kittle) as Sid, as well as Connor Strycharz, Joey Rothstein, and Kerry Mosier.
