Those called back for Mary Jo will be asked to arrive at 9am for a music audition. Rehearsal times may differ based on schedules.AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:Resumes and headshots are welcomed, but not required. Please bring a list of all known conflicts. Be prepared to read provided sides. You may be asked to read multiple sides with different scene partners. Those called back for the role of Mary Jo should prepare a 1-2 minute song to sing while playing guitar.SYNOPSIS:This is a powerful, true drama of six women who went to Vietnam: five nurses and a country western singer booked by an unscrupulous agent to entertain the troops. The play portrays each young woman before, during, and after her tour in the war-torn nation and ends as each leaves a personal token at the memorial wall in Washington, DC.Proud participant in the Norfolk Theatre Festival:nfktheatre.comCHARACTERS:MARY JO17 - 37. Blond, pretty, outgoing, bubbly personality. Texas accent. Sexy; a funny comedienne quality; but sad inside. Must be a skillful guitarist and singer. Must have her own guitar. Those called back for Mary Jo will be asked to sing and play guitar. Please prepare a 1-2 minute song. The Mary Jo music call back will be Saturday, January 18 at 9am.MARTHA22 - 42. Strong, self-composed, aura of self-discipline, military bearing. Strong face, American, almost pioneer in feeling.SISSY20 - 40. Sweet feminine, outgoing. Sense of fun. Also sense of harmony and warmth to personality.LEEANN20 - 40. Asian or Amerasian. Attractive. Strong, tough, determined in nature. An urban, hip quality to her personality.WHITNEY21 - 41. Tall, slender, withdrawn, contained. Very aristocratic in bearing and quality. A Vassar graduate.STEELE35 - 55. Black. Extremely strong, military bearing. Very intelligent, outgoing, great sense of humor. A pragmatist. Southern.MALE CHARACTER20 - 40. Plays many roles from soldiers to doctors to agents. Must be very versatile.
