Confederates, written by Tony-nominated playwright Dominique Morisseau and directed by Dr. Tawnya Pettiford-Wates, follows two Black American women living over a century apart who are experiencing parallel forms of institutional racism. The play examines the reins that racial and gender bias still hold over American educational systems today. This production opens Firehouse Theatre's 33rd Mainstage season.
