ZANNA DON'T - Spotlighters Theatre Non Equity Auditions

ALL ROLES OPEN, Non-Union/Non-Paid:

We are in search of multi-ethnic and talented cast of actors, singers, and dancers for this production. We are looking to represent as diverse a representation of the LGBT+ community as possible and will be casting 8 individuals as listed below. All performers must be able to portray seniors in high school.

ZANNA (They/Them, BIPOC/ Latinx/ AAPI) (to high G): the heart and soul of Heartsville; a hip, fun-loving non-binary magical matchmaker who servers as Heartsville High’s Hall monitor and dreams of being president. Classy, understated, big hearted, civic-minded, and driven to make the world better, even if they don't always fully think through their choices. Never fully defines themselves in terms of gender but wears clothing typically associated with females. (dresses, heels, etc.)

STEVE (He/Him, Caucasian/ European Descent) (tenor/baritone to Eb above middle C): quarterback; naïve, puppy?dog of a hunk but self-effacing and shy. The new guy in town hoping desperately to fit in, his dreams will be alternately fulfilled and shattered.

KATE (She/Her, Any Ethnicity) (belt to C, plus a few other higher notes mixed in): cheerleader and budding quantum physicist; part fearless and part insecure. A Sweet, innocent over-achiever who hasn’t yet fully figured out who she is.

MIKE (He/Him, Any Ethnicity) (tenor to high G): all-around cool guy; America's chess champ, which makes him a national celebrity: but really just wants to find a nice guy to settle down with and lead a quiet life.

ROBERTA (She/Her, Any Ethnicity) (belt to high F): captain of the synchronized mechanical bull?riding team and independent crusader for social justice. Tough as nails on the outside, a hopeless romantic on the inside; perennially unlucky in relationships, she heroically, and comically, never gives up her pursuit of true love.

TANK (He/Him, Any Ethnicity) (tenor/baritone to high G): Zanna's oldest friend and sidekick; rumpled, unromantic, hardboiled DJ of the school Radio Station; doubles as OFFICERKLOTSKY, DINER CUSTOMER 2 and TEX.

CANDI (She/Her, Caucasian/ European Descent) (belt to C, plus a few other higher notes mixed in): the school's narrow-minded, self-involvedbusy-body who will stop at nothing to get ahead; doubles as KARLA, DINER CUSTOMER 1 and LORETTA

ARVIN (He/They, Any Ethnicity) (baritone to Eb; should have a few low notes as well): Candi's browbeaten sidekick; a nice guy who just sort of goes with the flow; doubles as PRINCIPALCOOPER, DINER CUSTOMER 3 and BRONCO.
