Holds Auditions on October 8, 2017 for
The Peppermint Bear Show
Peppermint Bear and the Giant Elf
Lakewood Theatre Company will present an all-new version of their annual Christmas Holiday Santa breakfast production with the presentation of The Peppermint Bear Show, Peppermint Bear and the Giant Elf.
Auditions will be held starting at noon on Sunday, October 8. Roles are open to all ages but most roles are for ages 14-20. There are 7 featured actors and a chorus of elves. All actors must sing and dance. Actors should bring a prepared song and an accompanist will be provided. Actors may sign up for auditions online at:
https://www.lakewood-center.org/pages/auditions-Peppermint-Bear-2017. Audition forms must be signed by parent or guardian on day of audition for actors under 18.

Rehearsal/Performance schedule: Tentative rehearsal schedule will include Sat/Sun only October 21-November 12. Weekday evenings will be added Nov. 13 till the production opens Saturday, Dec. 2. Saturday performances at9:30 & 11:30; Sundays at 11:00; one Friday, 12/22 at 9:30 & 11:00. Performance dates Dec 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 22, 23. The performances are held in LTC Side Door Cabaret and tour to several venues during the run for the show. Dates TBA.

Synopsis:
Santa's workshop is in a tizzy when his chair and then magic jingle bells go missing. The giant slips in with plans to become the new, and much, muchbigger Santa Claus and uses the magic jingle bells to take control of the elves to get what he wants. Sally, a young girl who's father assists at the north pole, and Peppermint Bear learn to use teamwork hoping to make everything right before Christmas is ruined.

About the Peppermint Bear production: The book and lyrics are by Michael Snider with music by Kurt Misar. Snider will also direct and choreograph the production with Misar as the musical director.

The Peppermint Bear Show first premiered at Portland's Lipman's Department Store, which then became Fredrick and Nelson. It became a popular Holiday tradition for over 30 years. Since that time the show has been produced in New York and countless cities on the east coast, mid-west and Hawaii.

The Holiday Breakfast Theatre production has been an annual Lakewood Theatre tradition for 25 years. Audience members enjoy a special holiday continental breakfast 1/2 hour before the show and performers interact with young audience members to help them celebrate the holidays.
