PRODUCTION SCHEDULE

Rehearsals begin May 9, 2027.

Performances run June 25–July 18, 2027. Performers must be available for all technical rehearsals and performances. A complete rehearsal and performance schedule will be provided at auditions.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Please prepare 16–32 bars, or approximately one minute, of a song in the style of the show. Do not select a song from Frozen. Bring sheet music in the appropriate key for the accompanist. A cappella singing and recorded accompaniment are not permitted.

Auditions will also include a dance combination taught by the choreographer. Please wear or bring clothing and shoes that allow you to move safely and comfortably.

PLOT SYNOPSIS

In the mountainous kingdom of Arendelle, Princesses Anna and Elsa grow up sheltered inside their castle and increasingly distant from one another. Elsa possesses extraordinary magical powers, but her fear of hurting those she loves forces her to conceal them from the world and from Anna.

When Elsa’s powers are exposed during her coronation, she flees into the mountains and inadvertently plunges Arendelle into an endless winter. Determined to find her sister and bring her home, Anna embarks on an epic journey with rugged ice harvester Kristoff, his loyal reindeer Sven, and an endlessly cheerful snowman named Olaf.

Filled with magic, humor, adventure, and a soaring musical score, Disney’s Frozen is a powerful story of sisterhood, acceptance, and discovering the true meaning of love.

All roles are open. DMTC does not pre-cast. DMTC welcomes performers of all backgrounds and encourages auditioners to consider any role with which they identify. Listed vocal ranges and casting requirements are approximate and may be adjusted at the discretion of the production team.

Elsa: The future queen of Arendelle and Anna’s older sister. Born with extraordinary magical powers she struggles to control, Elsa isolates herself out of fear that she will harm the people she loves. Beneath her reserve is a deeply loving, intelligent, and powerful young woman longing for the freedom to live authentically. Requires an exceptional contemporary musical-theatre vocalist with emotional depth and commanding stage presence. Vocal range: E3–Eb5.

Anna: The spirited and relentlessly optimistic princess of Arendelle. After years of isolation, Anna longs for love, adventure, and a renewed relationship with Elsa. Impulsive, funny, courageous, and deeply compassionate, she refuses to give up on her sister. Requires a strong contemporary musical-theatre vocalist with excellent comedic and dramatic instincts. Vocal range: G3–E5.

Kristoff: A hardworking and independent ice harvester who is more comfortable with reindeer than people. His blunt, prickly exterior conceals a generous heart and a fierce capacity for loyalty. Requires a strong singer and actor with grounded humor and romantic warmth. Vocal range: A2–Bb4.

Hans: The charming and ambitious youngest prince of the Southern Isles. Polished, attentive, and seemingly sincere, Hans quickly captures Anna’s affection, but his ambitions extend far beyond romance. Requires a charismatic actor and strong contemporary musical-theatre vocalist. Vocal range: A2–A4.

Olaf: A magical snowman brought to life by Elsa’s powers. Innocent, affectionate, and hilariously fascinated by everything—including the idea of experiencing summer—Olaf brings warmth and optimism to Anna’s journey. May be cast without regard to gender. Requires exceptional comedic timing, physical characterization, and a strong vocalist. “In Summer” may be performed in an alto range of E3–Eb5 or a tenor range of B2–Bb4.

Sven: Kristoff’s fiercely loyal reindeer and closest companion. Expressive, playful, and emotionally perceptive, Sven communicates through physicality rather than spoken language. This is a highly physical featured role requiring strong movement, characterization, stamina, and comic instincts. Puppetry skills may be required or developed during rehearsal.

Oaken: The cheerful proprietor of Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post and Sauna. Amiable, welcoming, and an enthusiastic advocate for hygge, Oaken provides one of the production’s most memorable comic moments. Requires strong comedic timing, warmth, and an energetic stage presence. Vocal range: A2–Bb4.

Weselton: The pompous and judgmental duke of a neighboring territory. Weselton arrives in Arendelle eager to exploit its resources and quickly turns against Elsa when her powers are revealed. Requires a strong character actor with physical comedy skills. Vocal range: F3–A4.

Young Anna: Anna as a child. Energetic, adventurous, affectionate, and endlessly curious, Young Anna adores Elsa and is enchanted by her sister’s magic. Requires a confident young performer with strong singing, acting, movement, and comic instincts. Vocal range: Bb3–E5.

Young Elsa: Elsa as a child. A loving and protective older sister whose joy in using her magic gives way to fear after an accident places Anna in danger. Requires a young performer capable of conveying warmth, vulnerability, and significant emotional change. Vocal range: A3–E5.

Queen Iduna: The compassionate queen of Arendelle and mother of Elsa and Anna. Iduna loves both daughters deeply and attempts to help Elsa understand and manage her powers while protecting the family. Requires warmth, emotional presence, and a strong vocalist. Vocal range: F3–E5.

King Agnarr: The warmhearted but protective king of Arendelle and father of Elsa and Anna. Frightened by the possible consequences of Elsa’s powers, Agnarr makes choices intended to protect his daughters that ultimately deepen their isolation. Requires a grounded actor and singer with warmth and authority. Vocal range: B2–C4.

Pabbie: The wise and mystical patriarch of the Hidden Folk and one of Kristoff’s adoptive parents. Pabbie understands the beauty and danger of Elsa’s magic and recognizes that fear will be her greatest enemy. Requires authority, compassion, and a strong, grounded presence. Vocal range: Ab2–Gb4.

Bulda: The vibrant and nurturing matriarch of the Hidden Folk and one of Kristoff’s adoptive parents. Warm, exuberant, and determined to find Kristoff a partner, Bulda is affectionate, playful, and unapologetically involved in his life. Requires strong singing, movement, and comedic instincts. Vocal range: Bb3–D5.

Ensemble: The ensemble creates the world of Arendelle and is essential to the production’s music, movement, comedy, and theatrical magic. Ensemble performers portray townspeople, castle staff, guards, Hidden Folk, Oaken’s family and friends, volunteers, and other members of the kingdom.

Featured roles assigned from the ensemble may include the Bishop, Handmaiden, Weselton’s Lackeys, Hidden Folk Child, and additional speaking, singing, and dance roles. The production offers substantial opportunities for performers with strengths in singing, dancing, acting, physical comedy, and character work.
