The Arvada Center Announces Auditions for its Children’s Theater Production of

No Dogs Allowed

Arvada CO - The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will hold auditions for “No Dogs Allowed” on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Arvada Center, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada 80003. Auditions are by appointment only – please call
720-898-7200 to schedule a time. Auditioners must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for a part. “No Dogs Allowed” will be directed by Edith Weiss with musical direction by Keith Ewer and choreography by Piper Arpan.

Requirements:

Needed are experienced actors with strong character, vocal, and dance skills. Individuals of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds and encouraged to audition for all roles. Roles are non-equity, paid positions. Actors should prepare a one-minute comic monologue and 32 bars of an up-tempo musical theater piece from the 1950s to the present. Bring sheet music in the appropriate key, as an accompanist is provided. Use of CD or a cappella singing is not acceptable. A current résumé and headshot are required.

Production Details:

Rehearsals for “No Dogs Allowed” will begin Wednesday, January 16, 2013, weekdays from 9:00am – 5:00pm. The show opens on Thursday, February 7, 2013, running through April 12, 2013. Performances are Monday through Friday at 10:00 a.m., and noon, and some Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

El Exigente – The beloved family dog

Shorty - Exasperated older sister because she always knows things are going to go wrong. Prone to rolling her eyes in disgust.

Carmen - Mami's beautiful younger sister

Juan - Carmen's husband who is madly in love with her

Don Joe - The neighborhood grocer who thinks all problems can be solved with a delicious sandwich.
