The Arvada Center Announces Replacement Auditions for its Children’s Theater Production of

How I Became a Pirate

The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will hold replacement auditions for “How I Became a Pirate” on Monday, August 27, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Arvada Center, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd,, Arvada 80003. Auditions are by appointment only – please call
720-898-7200 to schedule a time. Auditioners must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for a part. “How I Became a Pirate” will be co-directed by David and Julie Payne with musical direction by Keith Ewer.

Requirements:

Needed are two experienced male actors with strong character and vocal skills. Individuals of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds and encouraged to audition for all roles. Roles are non-equity, paid positions. Actors should prepare a one-minute comic monologue suitable for family theatre and 16 bars of an up-tempo musical theater piece published from the 1950s to the present. Bring sheet music in the appropriate key, as an accompanist is provided. A current résumé and headshot are required. Use of an audio CD or a cappella singing is not acceptable. Please note: These are replacement roles for an Arvada Center production originally produced last spring that will be remounted this fall. No other roles are available.

Production Details:

Rehearsals for “How I Became a Pirate” will begin Monday, October 8, 2012, weekdays from 9:00am – 5:00pm. The show opens on Thursday, October 18, 2012, running through December 28, 2012. Performances are Monday through Friday at 10:00 a.m., and noon, and various Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

How I Became a Pirate Character Breakdown

Seeking 2 Male actors for the following roles:

Sharktooth the Pirate – foreboding - scowling grin - wears a patch on one eye - but yet - a “sensitive person”

Pirate Pierre – talks with a French accent - the ships’ cook - enjoys fine French cuisine.

Please note: These are replacement roles for an Arvada Center production originally produced last spring that will be remounted this fall. No other roles are available.
