Busch Gardens Entertainment with the casting support of RWS Entertainment Group is seeking vibrant, energetic performers for its collection of world-class productions during its Summer and Halloween Seasons.

Seeking nonunion singer/dancers, singers, and dancers, over the age of 16, with dynamic personalities, who are comfortable with various music/vocal/dance styles and are able to entertain by connecting with an audience. Theme Park, Cruise Ship, and Children’s Theatre credits are a plus.

Open Call will be held Monday, July 22, 2019 at 10am (Male & Female Singers), 2pm (Female Dancers), and 4pm (Male Dancers) at Pearl Studios, 500 8th Avenue (btwn 35th and 36th Sts), 3rd fl, NYC. 

Specifically seeking the following roles:   

HALLOWEEN SEASON   

NIGHTBEATS REVAMPED They might be undead, but that doesn’t mean they don’t know how to live it up. Shine your shoes and sharpen your fangs, you’re cordially invited to the gathering of the century. So, pull up a tombstone as these creatures of the night sing, dance and party. You’ll be smitten…until you’re bitten. 

[FEMALE ENSEMBLE SINGER]  Funny, charming, and alluring with big personality and excellent voice.   Styles range from Broadway to Pop/Rock.  Must be able to move well and deliver comedic bits throughout the show.  Vocal Ranges: Mezzo/Sop Pop/Rock Belters with a strong F# 

 

NEW INTERACTIVE STREET SHOW Fun and engaging village show featuring dancers and stilt walkers. 

[MALE STILT WALKERS/DANCERS] Athletic Fun Outgoing personality! Men with strong balance, animated personalities! Stilt walking experience is a pulse, but will be willing to teach.  

 

FALL SWINGS 

[MALE VOCAL SWING – PRINCIPAL ROLE]  MUST be able to play all male singer parts for all shows.  STRONG performer with comedic timing.  Bari/ Tenor singing in the styles above as well as Pop/Soul and Rock.  Range to Bb.  MUST MOVE WELL.  Muscular build, attractive, able to learn up to 8 parts for coverage.  

[FEMALE VOCAL SWING – PRINCIPAL ROLE] Principal Role. MUST be able to play all female singer parts for all shows.  Excellent singer with comedic timing.  Versatile, with strong Pop/ Rock belt.  Top note: F.   MUST MOVE WELL.  Must be able to learn up to 8 parts for coverage.   

[FEMALE SWING DANCER – PRINCIPAL DANCER]  Seeking very dynamic, personable, energetic dancers with excellent stage presence.  Must have strong technique and sense of style.  Partnering and lift experience required. Must be able to learn and perform all female dancer roles in INTERACTIVE STREET SHOW and NIGHT BEATS.  Females should bring heels and flats.   

 

HOLIDAY SEASON  

 

SCROOGE NO MORE! Join Scrooge live on stage in an all new musical at the Globe Theatre as he is swept away by the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future, who teach him the importance of family and friends being together at Christmas.   

[EBENEZER SCROOGE – PRINCIPAL PERFORMER] An old man whose great wealth has turned his heart to stone. Deaf to the needs of his fellow men, SCROOGE must journey through his past to regain the spirit of charity and kindness he had as a young man. Bari- Tenor to G.   

[JACOB MARLEY – PRINCIPAL PERFORMER] SCROOGE's deceased business partner, now a chained and tormented ghost, damned to wander the earth forevermore as punishment for his greedy, selfish and uncaring attitude towards mankind who arranges the visit of the three ghosts.  Doubles in ensemble roles.  

[GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PRESENT] A large jovial man.  Embodies the joy and charity of Christmas.  Doubles in ensemble roles. D3 - D4 Baritone 

[MR. FEZZIWIG] The jovial and kindhearted banker throwing the annual party SCROOGE attends.  Husband to MRS. FEZZIWIG.  Doubles in ensemble roles. Bari Tenor.  

[MRS. FEZZIWIG] The bubbly, cheerful wife of MR. FEZZIWIG the banker. Doubles in ensemble roles. D4 - Ab5 Soprano  

[BELLA] Young, lovely, and goodhearted. Truly in love with young Ebenezer. Happy with the simple things in life - friends, family, and the joy that comes from loving someone and being loved in return.  Doubles in ensemble roles. D4 - F Soprano  

[YOUNG EBENEZER] Works for the FEZZIWIGS.  He is obsessed with saving his money and running from a life of poverty.  He is in love with BELLA. Doubles in ensemble roles.  D3 - D4 Tenor   

[BOB CRATCHIT] A hardworking clerk in SCROOGE'S employment. Dedicated to his family, especially his young son TINY TIM. CRATCHIT maintains a kind heart, even in the face of SCROOGE'S mean-spiritedness.  Doubles in ensemble roles. Bari tenor to A   

[MRS. CRATCHIT] A wonderful wife and mother, hopeful and generous. Doubles in ensemble roles. G#3 - D5 Alto   

[MARTHA CRATCHIT] Tiny Tim's older sister.  Doubles in ensemble roles. Dancer with vocals.  5’3” or shorter.  

[FEMALE ENSEMBLE DANCERS] Very dynamic dancer/actors - must have strong technique.  Partnering skills and lift experience a must.  5’6” or taller.   

[MALE ENSEMBLE] Funny, charming, unique with big personality.  MUST move very well.  Improv or juggling skills a plus.  Vocal Range: Bari tenor   

 

DECK THE HALLS A musical tribute to Christmas traditions that celebrate the magic of the season. An exciting, energetic musical revue.   

[MALE ENSEMBLE SINGER] Funny, charming, unique with big personality and excellent voice.   Styles range from Broadway to Pop.  MUST move very well.  Must be able to deliver comedic bits throughout the show.  Vocal Ranges: Tenors with strong F and G.   

[MALE ENSEMBLE SINGER] Funny, charming, unique with big personality and Amazing voice.   Styles range from Broadway to Pop.  MUST move very well.  Must be able to deliver comedic bits throughout the show.  Vocal Range: Baritone with strong Eb.   

[FEMALE ENSEMBLE SINGER] Funny, charming, and alluring with big personality and excellent voice.   Styles range from Broadway to Pop.  Must be able to move well and deliver comedic bits throughout the show.  Vocal Ranges: Mezzo Soprano. Top Note F – (8ve).   

[FEMALE ENSEMBLE SINGER]  Funny, charming, and alluring with big personality and excellent voice.   Styles range from Broadway to Pop.  Must be able to move well and deliver comedic bits throughout the show.  Vocal Ranges: Alto. Top note D.   

[MALE ENSEMBLE DANCERS]  Seeking very dynamic, unique dancers - should have a strong sense of style and technique.  Style of the show is swing/jazz/lyrical.  Partnering experience a must.   

[FEMALE ENSEMBLE DANCERS]  Smart, attractive, very dynamic dancers - should have a strong sense of style and technique.  Style of the show is swing/jazz/lyrical.  Partnering and tap experience a must. 

 

GLORIA  The greatest story ever told comes to life as only Busch Gardens can imagine.  The story of the Nativity told through moving scenery, projections, and outstanding voices, Gloria will reach your soul and leave your heart singing. 

[GABRIEL – PRINCIPAL SINGER] Male.  An angel messenger. Styles range from Broadway to Gospel/Soul.  Vocal Range: Bari - Tenors with strong F#. Principal role.   

[MARY] Female. The Mother of the child. Styles range from Broadway to Gospel/Soul.  Vocal Range: Alto – Top note: C   

[JOSEPH]  Male. Mary’s husband. Styles range from Broadway to Gospel/Soul.  Must be able to deliver comedic bits throughout the show.  Vocal Range: Bari - Tenors with strong F.   

[LYDIA] Female.  A Shepherdess and attendant to the kings.  Styles range from Broadway to Gospel. Vocal Ranges: Mezzo Soprano with strong belt C.   

[RACHEL] Female. Shepherdess. Styles range from Broadway to Gospel/Soul.  Vocal Ranges: Mezzo/Belter.  Top Note Bb belt.   

[AMOS] Male. A shepherd. Styles range from Broadway to Gospel/Soul. Vocal Range: Tenor 

[JACOB] Male. A shepherd. Styles range from Broadway to Gospel/Soul. Vocal Range: Tenor with strong belt. 
[ANNA] Female. A Shepherdess and attendant to the kings. Styles range from Broadway to Gospel/Soul. Vocal Ranges: Soprano   

[LYSIA] Female. A Shepherdess and attendant to the kings.   Styles range from Broadway to Gospel/Soul. Vocal Ranges: Alto   

[MELCHIOR] Male. The Red king who brings gold to the manger. Styles range from Broadway to Gospel/Soul. Vocal Range: Tenors with strong belts.  

[CASPAR] Male.  The blue king who brings myrrh to the manger. Styles range from Broadway to Gospel/Soul. Vocal Range: Bari - Tenors with strong belt.   

[BALTHAZAR] Male. The purple king who brings frankincense to the manger. Styles range from Broadway to Gospel/Soul. Vocal Range: Bass / Baritone with strong belt.   
  

CAROLERS A quartette of Dickensian singers perform throughout the afternoon and evening beneath Big Ben spreading Yuletide cheer to village guests. 

[VILLAGE VOCAL QUARTET]  Male. Choral style with a great blend needed. Vocal Range: Bass. 

[VILLAGE VOCAL QUARTET]  Male. Choral style with a great blend needed. Vocal Range: Tenor. 

[VILLAGE VOCAL QUARTET] Female. Choral style with a great blend needed. Vocal Range: Alto. 

[VILLAGE VOCAL QUARTET] Female. Choral style with a great blend needed. Vocal Range: Soprano. 
  

WINTER SWINGS 

[MALE VOCAL SWING – PRINCIPAL ROLE] MUST be able to play all male singer parts in SCROOGE NO MORE and VILLAGE CAROLERS.  STRONG performer with comedic timing capable of character roles.  Bari/ Tenor.  Range to A.  Singer/Dancer.  Will cover 9 roles.  Must be comfortable with heights.  Choral Experience a plus. 

[MALE VOCAL SWING – PRINCIPAL ROLE] MUST be able to play all male singer parts in GLORIA.  STRONG performer with excellent Broadway and gospel vocals.  Bari/ Tenor.  Range to F#.  Singer/Mover.  Will cover 7 roles. 

[MALE VOCAL SWING – PRINCIPAL ROLE] MUST be able to play all male singer parts in DECK THE HALLS.  STRONG performer with excellent vocals.  A cappella experience a plus.  Bari/ Tenor or Tenor.  Range to F#.  Singer/Dancer. 

[FEMALE VOCAL SWING – PRINCIPAL ROLE] MUST be able to play all female singer parts in SCROOGE NO MORE and VILLAGE CAROLERS.  STRONG performer with comedic timing capable of character roles.  Mezzo Soprano.  Singer/Dancer.  Will cover 7 roles.  Must be comfortable with heights.  Choral Experience a plus. 5’4” to 5’7” preferred. 

[FEMALE VOCAL SWING – PRINCIPAL ROLE] MUST be able to play all female singer parts in GLORIA.  STRONG performer with excellent Broadway and gospel vocals.  Mezzo Soprano.  Singer/Mover.  Will cover 7 roles. 

[FEMALE VOCAL SWING – PRINCIPAL ROLE] MUST be able to play all female singer parts in DECK THE HALLS.  STRONG performer with excellent vocals.  A cappella experience a plus.  Pop Soprano.  Singer/Dancer. 

[MALE SWING DANCER – PRINCIPAL ROLE] Seeking very dynamic, personable, energetic dancers with excellent stage presence.  Must have strong technique and sense of style.  Partnering and lift experience required. Must be able to learn and perform all male dancer roles DECK THE HALLS. 


[FEMALE SWING DANCER – PRINCIPAL ROLE] Seeking very dynamic, personable, energetic dancers with excellent stage presence.  Must have strong technique and sense of style.  Partnering and tap experience a must.  Must be able to learn and perform all female dancer roles DECK THE HALLS and SCROOGE NO MORE.
 

 

Rehearsals for NIGHTBEATS REVAMPED and NEW INTERACTIVE STREET SHOW start on August 27.  Shows open on September 13 and close on October 27. Rehearsals for SCROOGE NO MORE!, DECK THE HALLS, and GLORIA start October 29.  Shows open on November 15 and close on January 5. All rehearsals are in Williamsburg, VA.  

 

WHAT TO PREPARE

SINGERS and SINGER/DANCERS: Please prepare 16 bars of an upbeat pop/rock or contemporary musical theatre song showing range and personality.  Have a contrasting second piece ready if asked. Bring sheet music in correct key; accompanist will be provided. Bring headshot and resume stapled together. You may be called back to move or dance later the same day; bring dance clothes/shoes.   

DANCERS: A brief combination will be taught. Please wear form fitting attire. Females should bring character heels and flats. Males should bring jazz shoes. Bring headshot and resume stapled together. 

Callbacks will be held Tuesday, July 23rd.

 

Pay Rate: $20.26/hour for principal roles. $14.57/hour for ensemble roles.
