Red Firecrackers, presented by the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, celebrates Chinese immigrant culture through an engaging narrative centered around the origins of the Chinese Lunar New Year. The performance tells the story of villagers uniting to fend off the Nian, a mythical creature, utilizing vibrant costumes, dynamic dance, acrobatics, and captivating music to bring the tradition to life. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Greta Campo and Executive Director Andy Chiang, this production showcases the rich tapestry of Chinese New Year customs and embodies themes of community and resilience.
