United by themes of memory and trauma, arresting imagery and inventive approaches to form, acclaimed writer Nick Flynn and trailblazing filmmaker Beth B come together for a special evening that places their art in conversation. The program features highlights of B’s films, including excerpts of her most recent work, Glowing, which features Flynn. Mutual collaborator Jim Coleman provides atmospheric musical interludes and underscores Flynn’s reading from his lyrical memoir This Is the Night Our House Will Catch Fire.
Curated and hosted by Joseph Keckler, The Golden Hour unfolds as a kaleidoscopic evening of music, storytelling, and unexpected performance. Past guests have included Charlie Kaufman, Edgar Oliver, Alex Tatarsky, Lindy West, Ahamefule Oluo, and Dael Orlandersmith.
This performance includes inclusive content, including nudity, and is geared towards audience members 18 and older. ArtYard is committed to supporting artists as they develop innovative, original art that opens pathways toward greater self-reflection, understanding, interaction, and imagination. Please join us in supporting creative incubation.
