November 6–15, 2026 | West Windsor, NJ
Celebrate America's 250th anniversary with Theater To Go's production of the Tony Award-winning musical 1776 at Kelsey Theatre, Mercer County Community College.
Featuring music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards and a book by Peter Stone, 1776 brings audiences into the Continental Congress as John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and their fellow delegates debate the momentous decision to declare independence from Great Britain.
Filled with humor, stirring music, and political intrigue, the musical portrays the courage, conflicts, and compromises behind America's founding.
Directed and produced by Ruth Markoe, with musical direction by Sue den Outer and choreography by Haley Schmalbach, the production features a 26-member regional cast.
Special Events: Following the Sunday afternoon performances on November 8 and 15, historian and author Larry Kidder will lead post-show discussions and afternoon tea, exploring the real history behind the musical.
